Well, I've sent 31 people this way to buy OOTP that previously didn't know what it was. They've all bought one or more copies since version 3.
I feel as if I've fulfilled my duty. ![]() Not saying I won't refer more... but most of my core group of friends and family know about the game by now. I'm not about to pull out a bull horn and go around screaming it for all to hear. Be hard to play _my_ verson of OOTP in a straight jacket. ![]() Jase |

I think an ad in the back of one of those preseason baseball guides, like Street & Smith's or Sporting News, would do wonders for sales. It might be expensive, but it would be a good investment IMO.

I'd say it has to be more than 10 000. 10 000 copies at 25 or 35$ a pop aint much revenue, and considering Markus needs to make a living off of this, I dont think hed be doing it if only 10 000 sold, but i may be wrong.
On second thought, just looked at how many people are registered on the forum, and got approximately 9240. I'm guessing atleast 90% of those have the game(that might be overtsating though, especially considering there are 6 versions, and alot of users probably only bought ootp 3 or 4 and have stuck with that). And, my guess is that around 75% of those who buy it register, which would mean my estimate is 13 000. Thought it would be more, and maybe it is, but thats my guess. Although OOTP is an absolutely phenominal game for those of us here, its never going to compete with baseball games on XBOX or playstation, and no matter how good of a game it is for what it does, if what it does(simulating baseball) isnt appealing to a whole lot of people, then its not gonna sell hundreds of thousands of copies. |

I wouldn't trust registration- aliases make up a bunch of those, as every yahoo thinks he's funny. Secondly, I say 10,000 because I recall Markus pointing out that he made about 6 figures a year- 10000 translates to about 250,000 in revenue, and after taking costs into account- that seems right.

I have not written a review in years, maybe if I could get the creative juices flowing again... OOTP is certainly worthy of all the media exposure we can give it...

So, even if say he has a 50% overhead... at 10,000 copies, I'd say he'd be able to put bread on the table with 100k in his pocket. Wouldn't you? This ofcourse, is assuming he sells 10k copies. It could be less or it could be more. Personally, if I had to give an educated guess... I'd say about 5,000 units move each incarnation of OOTP. 99% of the world probably doesn't even know the game exists. That's just my guess. It's not like it even matters... as long as it's popular enough that he can afford to keep shipping them out, that's all that matters to me. Jase |

If it's too popular, Markus could become too rich and too lazy. Or he can become too ambitious with all the money and hire some high-priced punks to create spin off games like ATP, UTP, TSATP, or GMJOATP and go bankrupt.

I found out about the game from the advertisment in Baseball Weekly. I was looking for info on Diamond Mine and stumbled on OOTP4. Glad I did.

A couple of years ago I tried unsuccessfully to get on-air sports talk radio guys to participate in my league. One guy is a baseball junkie, he actually was interested but was soon having their first child so said no.
Sports talk radio show personalities are a good target. They all bet, they play fantasy leagues, why not introduce them to OOTP in a city near you?

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/aboutus.php They may not be all full time, but I'm sure they get paid. I know some of these guys work on the boxing sim, but I bet the revenue from OOTP also supports that development. |

Remember, the exchange rate is 1.60 American dollars for each German Mark...so for him to get six figures we'll need more than $100,000 revenue US.

My priest used to moan the name when I was little and we were alone, I can hear him now, "O..O...OOO...OOO..OO.." He never made it to the TP part though. (sigh)...I miss that old man...

![]() It currently stands at 1.21, but as a matter of practicality, transactions costs come into play- there's no way you're making that deal on the spot market.
