I used to play out every game. Did so for 6 seasons and then started simming the regular season and playing postseason. Now I simply sim everything. I really enjoyed playing every game out for a while but it became a little frustrating with the lack options that you have over many of the plays and the seemingly predictable situations that would come up in games when you knew what was most likely going to happen next. For example if a pitcher happened to get on base with two outs, it almost always signaled that the next batter would drive him in or there would be a two out rally. I set up my strategies to closely reflect the way that I would manage each game although I know this isn't perfect.

I play each game in my fictional European league. I will sim the remainder if I get ejected, or I have to go and need to finish. I had a league on my second license which I simmed weekly in OOTP4, but then started playing games out in OOTP5 (partially because of the sounds).

I mostly play out my games. I like the nitty-gritty manager decisions.
And I like to bitch-slap my players into becoming Stars. |

Why would anybody spend hours and hours just simming games?

I play every game until I've clinched home-field or been eliminated from the playoffs. Then I set up my depth charts to give my callups plenty of starts and sim out the rest of the regular season. If I make the playoffs, I play every game.

I'm a mostly sim guy, thouse I play games occasionally, mostly in the playoffs. Sometimes I will sim the first part of a game and play the rest.

I play out every game of my primary solo league, but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to develop new leagues with OOTP6 that I'll do more simming with.

Absolutely I play. Every game.
When I play solo, my objective is a simple one: displace the Yankees with a new Dominant Dynasty: The Chicago Cubs. So I'm emotionally involved in every game. Of course, when I'm not doing well and the "real" Cubs are not doing well, my wife cannot take my grumpiness. But what can you do? In any case, I feel like I need to play to really know my players. Plus I think I'm smarter than the PC manager. ![]() --chris |

I think the fact that a small majority play some mix is very telling, but the great thing about the game is that it can please so many playing syles

I sim about 75% of the games throughout a season and don't even check box scores of any of the games that I sim..I simply don't have time for playing 162 games and analyzing box scores, plus I enjoy seeing player development and seeing rookies become second year players, becoming veterens. My method of simming is that I sim every game up until september, then I play the rest of the year. This allows me to get to know my team pretty well, and since you usually play mostly teams from your division in september it allows you to get to know the most important teams to you as well. This is the only method that I can see myself doing. I thought once that I would start a league and play every game but after a solid week of playing a couple games a day I noticed that I had only gotten past the first month of the season and it would take me at least two months per year, and since I don't play a whole lot during the offseason thats just 3 seasons per season...I'd rather see many more years than that. With my way I get a little more than a season done in a week, although i'm sure that pace will slow as the baseball season wears on. Anyway, my way's the best and I'm clearly a genius.
