Dude it’s not happening. Not with the new game 2 months away. All the focus going forward will be on that. OOTP26 is done. On to OOTP27.

End of march... it won't have a number and will be called OOTP27.

They have never released a patch at the end of january as everybody's working on the next release...

Sure and I would love to have one billion dollar but it won't happen... OOTP26 cycle is over.

I am not wild about the way William j is going about it, but I do think a hot fix could very well be warranted here. The AI really does make OOTP 26 pretty much unplayable.

That being said, the development team is definitely at work on version 27, but as we all know, just because it's being released soon, doesn't mean IT (27) will be bug free either...it will likely be months before it's really playable either. (If past trends continue anyway)

Do we know for sure that this is the last patch for 26? Usually the devs announce when a patch is the "final patch" - I haven't seen that announcement.

I'm not sure what to do. I've always waited until the final patch of a new version before migrating my long running league that's been going since probably OOTP15 or earlier - but with all the roster management issues being reported, I'm hesitant to do that.

I bought OOTP26 because I like to support the game, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable using it for the universe/league I've put so much time into if it's going to butcher the realism. Would love to get a dev's official comment on the subject.

The bolded part for sure. 26 never got to a place where it felt like it was what it was supposed to be. And because 26 feels like it was "given up" on eventually, it doesn't inspire any confidence in 27 for single player at all.

bolding mine

Have they though? Maybe, but I don't remember that and I don't see why they would do that because as a dev you'd never know when something might pop up that you realize you really should release another patch. Other than putting to bed any questions like these, I just don't see much value in committing yourself to no more patches.

Let's ask ourselves what has happened in the past. Have we seen patches come out within a month after the MLB offseason has ended? Yes (this one came out on 11-04). Have we ever seen a patch come out after the year has turned? I don't recall that. Maybe it's happened once or twice, but if it has, it's very rare. We're almost in February and I haven't seen anyone articulate a specific game-breaking bug so I think it's safe to say we're not going to see another OOTP26 patch. And I'm not saying this because I know anything you might not. I'm simply going off of history and what I think I know of 26.

A month after the world series ends I think it's safe to say to oneself, "we're probably not seeing another patch". At some point the devs really need to focus their attention on the next major version because, let's be real, most people probably don't play OOTP year round like some of us, not nearly as many people are going to benefit from an after the world series patch as would the benefit be from extra work done on the next major version. And sure, you want to support your customers who've already bought your product, but at some point you really must think about next year's revenues and giving people as many reasons as possible for buying the next version.

I don't know one way or another for sure, but if anyone's really thinking another OOTP26 patch might come, I'd recommend you move on from that and suggest posting your feature requests on the suggestions board instead. Whatever the futures holds, I think it's safe to say that the likelihood that whatever you want gets added to 27 is probably far higher than it getting added to 26 at this point.

Yes in the past they have but that's the problem, new company. When the patches came from a fellow who's initials are "MH" he certainly would let us know when the final patch dropped. This group is trying to rewrite history.
