When you download them, cab you assign them to individual ai teams, or are they random
by default the in-game profiles are generic and balanced, you can import a custom manager profile on an AI team without taking it over which is why I like these because you can impact the simulation without having to run the other team's day to day managerial game planning.

How do these work? Does the game randomly assign a manager a set of traits?

They're all default profiles, but the game comes with some old fan-base manager profiles and I made these for usage as well. The wiki explains where the strategy files are located.

Marty Beckwith

A calculating manager who plays the early game cautiously but gets increasingly aggressive with defensive alignments and shifts as the game goes on. Notable for how his infield positioning becomes more extreme in the later innings. Takes a measured approach to baserunning but is more willing to use shifting and tactical plays as the pressure builds. Shows interesting contrast between conservative offense and aggressive defense in critical moments. Really believes in defensive positioning as his key strategic weapon.

George Wilson
Manages by the book early but becomes much more focused on matchups and tactical advantage as the game goes on. Pretty standard with most strategies early in games but gets notably more aggressive with intentional walks and guarding lines in the late innings. Really emphasizes platoon advantages in critical situations. Patient with both starters and relievers throughout, but will lean heavily on matchups when the game's on the line in the 9th.

Ben Monroe
Modern-minded manager who emphasizes defensive shifts and patient at-bats. Pretty aggressive with baserunning and bunts for hits frequently, but conservative with most other small ball tactics. Notable for how he uses infield and outfield shifts while being patient with his pitchers. Not afraid to use pinch hitters for his pitchers but overall takes a balanced approach to substitutions

Fictional Asian Manager Pack Pt.1

Deuce Wright

Unique tactician who brings modern MLB sensibilities to Japanese-style baseball. Balances aggressive defensive shifting with traditional small ball tactics - you'll see plenty of bunts but also lots of defensive alignments that reflect newer analytical approaches. Quick with the hook but strategic about it, and loves to play matchups late in games. Represents a true fusion of styles - not afraid to bunt with his power hitters but also willing to let his speedsters swing away when the numbers support it. Players say he's always got his notebook handy but trusts his gut on when to deploy small ball tactics.

Masashi Tanaka
Strong believer in traditional Japanese baseball principles with a methodical approach to pitcher usage. Sets strict pitch counts and manages his bullpen carefully. Very aggressive with small ball tactics - you'll see plenty of bunts and squeeze plays - and loves to control the running game from both sides. Not big on modern defensive shifts but extremely focused on fundamental positioning and matchups. Really emphasizes holding runners while being selective about when to run himself.

Gonzo Ishikawa
The wildcard of Japanese baseball who's earned the nickname 'Gonzoball' for his unpredictable style. Throws traditional Japanese managing on its head - he'll use openers regularly, push aggressive baserunning, and still keep the bunt game strong. Early innings he's all business with bunts and careful pitcher usage, but by the late innings he's unleashing chaos with aggressive running and matchup plays.

Riku Matsuda
Baseball traditionalist with a modern analytics streak. Shows a clear progression through the game - patient early but gets increasingly focused on matchups and tactical advantages late. Heavy on infield shifts and baserunning but selective with timing. Strong believer in letting pitchers work deep but won't hesitate to match up in key spots. Really emphasizes manufacturing runs through strategic bunting while embracing modern defensive alignments.

Yuki Petrov
Learned baseball from the ground up in Japan, rising from minor league player to innovative manager. Known for his aggressive style with squeeze plays and bunts for hits, while being equally focused on outfield positioning and guarding the lines. Keeps pitchers in games longer than most modern managers but very particular about holding runners and corner infield positioning. Players say he has an uncanny sense for when to call a surprise squeeze play. Represents a fascinating blend of small ball tactics with selective defensive shifts.

Which one of these would you say is the closest to Stephen Vogt's style?

Another set of manager profiles for no speciifc reason.

Hector Mendez
Old-school tactician who leans on structure and predictability to steady his team through long seasons. Prefers to keep his starters on a leash and trusts his bullpen to close out games with discipline rather than deception. Plays the game straight, with conservative baserunning and minimal small-ball tactics, relying instead on consistent contact and fielding fundamentals.

Defensively, he’s meticulous about positioning, using shifts and depth adjustments to cut off gaps rather than chase strikeouts. Known for his calm dugout demeanor and unwavering belief in preparation over improvisation, Mendez manages like a craftsman who believes the game rewards precision and patience.

Mat Ishida
Methodical and quietly daring, Ishida manages with the restraint of a chess player and the patience of a craftsman. He believes games are won through consistency rather than chaos, trusting his starters to carry the load while keeping his bullpen arms sharp and ready for precise moments.

Offensively, he stays measured—rarely calling for bunts or hit-and-runs, but he pushes his runners to take smart chances when the defense hesitates. His teams defend with machine-like discipline, using infield and outfield shifts as calculated tools rather than default settings. Substitutions are planned long before they happen, executed with the cold timing of a strategist who never wants emotion to interfere with the math

Raffy Domiguez
A restless modernist who manages with the urgency of someone trying to outthink the inning before it happens. Dominguez trusts his players to make aggressive reads on the bases and isn’t afraid to manufacture momentum with pressure plays early. He favors a disciplined but forceful approach at the plate, steering away from small-ball gimmicks and leaning instead on contact and rhythm to sustain rallies.

Defensively he’s assertive, guarding the lines and shifting frequently to protect his pitchers rather than to chase strikeouts. His substitution patterns are deliberate but fast, showing little hesitation to pull a starter the moment signs of fatigue appear. Every move feels rehearsed yet reactive, the mark of a manager who treats baseball like a series of calculated improvisations rather than a script.

Darryl Hume
Cautious to his core, Hume manages every game like a slow burn where control is the highest virtue. He resists chaos on the bases and almost never calls for aggressive tactics, preferring to let his hitters decide the pace rather than forcing action. His teams rarely bunt, rarely steal, and focus instead on steady contact and situational awareness.

On defense, Hume plays things straight, he trusts positioning and fundamentals over analytics, rarely shifting his fielders or tinkering with depth. His pitchers are allowed to work methodically, with deliberate hooks and little interference unless the situation demands it. Every inning under Hume feels deliberate, precise, and heavy with the sense that nothing happens without purpose, even if that purpose is simply not to lose.

Mostly wanted to make a few analytics-heavy profiles to reflect the scourge of the modern game.

There's a Rays flavored one, Blue Jays flavored, a very aggressive cheapo style of weirdness and then there's two analytics department generic profiles.Just a way to inject some differences in your game.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of your strategy profiles! I was wondering, would you ever consider doing generic ones for say each historical decade, i.e. 1910's, 1920's, etc?

I hadn't considered that, but this post will make me consider it down the road.

Thanks for creating and sharing these - are they mainly for the user to take advantage of? Will the AI do anything with the profiles in the strategy profiles directory?
