The "turn into coach" function

So here's a question. Why does the manual commish mode "Turn into Coach" function always seem to generate guys with extremely high coaching ratings, whereas the automatically-generated coaches are often all poor across the board?

Just something I noticed...anyone else notice that?

I think this subject has been discussed before, a wish list, with ideas of having some predictability over the process. Like, a great pitcher with high IQ becoming a great pitching coach. This type of logic does not seem to be in the game.

I would think that if you're wanting to use that feature then you probably want them good enough to be hired by a parent club. Do you want them to be created with bad ratings?

I suppose it would be best if there was a selection of options like bad, mid, good, great. I just tested it by turning a catcher I plan to turn into a coach once he retires and his ratings are higher than I would expect (1 Legendary, 2 Outstanding, all the rest at least green, except only okay pitching). But I'm not sure personnel ratings ever improve either so maybe it's their only chance to be good. He did have outstanding at catcher, which I would expect, but his legendary was at infield, which I wouldn't really expect.

Kind of relatedly, I really wish we had dedicated catcher and bullpen coaches.

That's true I guess...idk. Just seems like a way to cheat almost. But I guess if you're in commissioner mode in the first place, you're already sort of cheating. lol!

Well, giving up a player (admittedly probably over-the-hill) by turning him into a coach, and getting high coach ratings, does not strike me as a cheat. In the sense that even the best coach is going to have a slight, attenuated, delayed effect on player development and team performance.

I assumed that the high ratings were a result of the guy already knowing the team and the players and having credibility as a former player. But I do appreciate that coaching is a distinct skill set, and not every player will be a good coach (and generally a learning curve is involved...).
