OSA ratings or Head Scout?
I'm assuming that when evaluating a player if the Head Scout has a white background, that's whose rating I'm seeing; if the OSA rating is white that's the active rating. But is that right?

Correct. I get this mixed up all the time too (and of course I had to double check before replying). The only way I know to make sure which is which is keep clicking the same button. If you click again and nothing changes, you can be pretty sure that's the one that is active. But just to be safe, click it like 10 more times.
![]() I wish it was displayed better somehow, like maybe a little toggle between the two, like this, and then whichever side the circle is closest to that's the one that is active. I'm sure that would be so much better.

When "Head Scout" is black, then that's the ratings you are seeing. It is a toggle, and the current toggle is in black. Click the white "OSA", and you'll see the ratings to change to the OSA ratings and the "OSA" toggle will switch to black.

For the original poster this is easily confirmed by any screen of players that shows ratings. As an example my batters screen. Note the yellow arrow pointing to my scout (Moral) on the upper right. If you open a player page it will show "Head Scout" in black. If you go to the "scouting" pull down (also denoted with a yellow arrow) you can switch to OSA. If you do this it will now say "OSA" instead of Moral on the upper right. Now if you open a player page it will now OSA in black.

Oh, I know, it depends on your version of the game and the skin. For example, OOTP25's classic skin it's definitely white, but in OOTP26's it's dark!
I think maybe the best way to know is to go to a player's scouting page and whatever you have selected is what it will say on the left side of their scouting page. Yeah, they definitely need to clear this up. And here I thought my brain was just playing tricks on me!

![]() I play dark skin. Out of curiosity if the selection in classic skin is white, what color is the non-selected?

I wish we could just disable OSA, they serve no purpose when you have a scout

Dump the OSA chump!
That's a great idea - to just get rid of the OSA rating option when a player has "paid" the salary for a scout.

OSA ratings can still be hidden but used for things like prospect rankings

I use OSA as a second opinion quite a bit actually. Especially for draft players.
If my scout is telling me a guy is an 80-POT but his bonus demand is very low and OSA sees 40-POT, I wouldn't draft the guy in the top rounds. The OSA also seems useful if you play with low scouting accuracy or infrequent scouting reports. If you increase the scouting fog, sometimes you need to choose between an OSA report with average accuracy and a scout report with very low accuracy. If you are playing in a way where it is easy to have all players scouted as 'very high', then the OSA is useless. Last edited by kidd_05_u2; 08-29-2025 at 01:14 PM. |

I'm not getting what is gained by adding an option to disable OSA other than another check box on the settings pages?
Maybe it's just me but I pretty much don't see OSA unless I select/ask to see OSA. Any views I have built use my team scout unless I select OSA from the menu. Yes the Top Prospects list is done with OSA ratings, but IRL isn't the list also done by an independent service? I'm sure teams' don't use this list, rather they rely on their own scouts. The prospect list in real life or OOTP is for fans across the country and sports commentators/journalists (to a certain degree). It adds immersion/flavor to your baseball universe IMHO.
