Changing Rules / Game

I’m wondering what if any, rules or game setup can be changed in OOTP?

To be more specific:

Can I change the number of innings per game?
Can I set a league to allow ties?
Can I force pitchers to only be allowed a set amount of innings per game?
Can I set the game to be first to 5 runs wins?
Can I make a Champions League type competition from multiple national leagues?
Can I create a team like the Portland Mavericks and have them play as an Independent team in the real Minor Leagues?

Anything odd and quirky to make things a little different I’m looking for

Thanks

Regarding ties, how is winning percentage calculated when ties are allowed? Are they considered as half-won, half-lost, or are they disregarded entirely? E.g.:

6-3-1 .650 (ties counted as half-won, half-lost)
6-3-1 .667 (ties disregarded)

You would have to ask Matt probably. I have never played with ties so no idea how they are programmed to work.

If you play with ties does it stop the game after nine innings?

Your choice. Can play up to 15 innings if you like.

That would be neat. Who says there has to be a winner?

A TIE IS LIKE KISSING YOUR SISTER

ngl though in reality I’ve been solely tempted to add ties or the ghost runner in the early 70s save I’m running. I like to look at news of the day in parallel and one thing that happened in real life during the season I’m playing is that the Twins and Brewers played a 21 inning game one day (it was actually halted by curfew and resumed the next day) and a 15 inning one the next. Some might look at this as, like, tight and tense or something but I personally find a whole ass extra game of futility to be horribly boring and sometimes a bit frustrating when you’ve basically fired all the weapons you have available and are now watching some scrub long reliever facing off against the backup catcher and backup middle infielder, both of whom can’t hit .200, in the 16th.

I went through the 2019 MLB season and recalculated the standings based on games ending as a tie after 12 inning had been played (the rule used in the Asian leagues). This is what it would have looked like:

Code:
Team G W L T

AL East

NYA 162 102 59 1
TBA 162 94 65 3
BOS 162 82 76 4
TOR 162 66 94 2
BAL 162 53 106 3

AL Central

MIN 162 100 60 2
CLE 162 92 69 1
CHA 161 71 89 1
KCA 162 59 102 1
DET 161 47 111 3

AL West

HOU 162 105 53 4
OAK 162 95 64 3
TEX 162 78 84 0
ANA 162 72 87 3
SEA 162 67 92 3

NL East

ATL 162 95 65 2
WAS 162 93 68 1
NYN 162 85 73 4
PHI 162 78 80 4
MIA 162 57 103 2

NL Cental

SLN 162 91 70 1
MIL 162 85 71 6
CHN 162 82 77 3
CIN 162 75 86 1
PIT 162 68 92 2

NL West

LAN 162 106 55 1
ARI 162 82 76 4
SFN 162 73 83 6
COL 162 69 90 3
SDN 162 70 92 0
Something that people tend to forget is that tie games can happen in MLB and the minor leagues. It's just that, while the player and team statistics from tie games are counted, the result of the game in the standings is completely ignored. Tie games are also replayed if possible.

I think it would be interesting to do ties after 9 and games not replayed.

Ties are disregarded when calculating Win%. I use ties after 12 innings in my fictional league. Looking at test files out of 105603 games 1606 ended in a tie.
That's once every 65.75 games or 2.5 ties per team over a 162 game schedule.

Any news if you can make games shorter in terms of innings?
