Variant Card Details

By "tied to another card" I am talking about the merging with another card as stated in the Variant Card Details by Nicolino. After merged it with another card I tried putting the Variant card on my active roster and it would not let me do that. The last sentence in the Details says: Also, please be advised that removing a Base Card of a player on your active roster in order to replace it with a Variant of that same player will result in both cards needing the 14-day cool down period." I could not add the variant card to my active roster.

What the dev told you was 100% correct. But you should be able to do it this morning since those cooling down periods are expunged for the new season.

I am winning auctions, but they are staying in my orders section and aren’t closing out. They’ve been in my “orders” section for half a day and I appear to be the biggest bidder in all of them except for one that have ended. See photo.

If somehow I did lose these auctions (which it doesn’t look like I lost), my perfect points haven’t been refunded. I don’t have the cards in my inventory and my perfect points are locked into these stuck auctions.

Can I get help resolving? Do you need to wait overnight?

Which cards are the one in question here? Have you checked your Inactive Roster in the Manage Cards screen?

I uploaded a new picture so that you can see the names of the cards on the left-hand side. There are two cards that I wasn’t the highest bidder on. The one that sold for 18,002 perfect points and the one that sold for 18,069 perfect points. The rest of the auctions that say “ended” in the “auction ends in column”, I had the highest bid at the end of the auction. You can see in the “enter bid” column that my bid matches the bid under the “current bid” section. No matter what I do, the auctions are just stuck. I can’t get my perfect points back and I also don’t have any of the cards. I’ve checked my inactive, reserve, and active cards and the only variant I see in my inventory is Alex Trevino.

You were not actually the bid leader on most of those. If someone else bid higher, when you bid up, it only pushes the bid up to the price you put in, but they would still be leading. In those cases it never took the PP, you'd get a message like "someone else has a higher bid". The dark blue color on the names are ones you are leading in.

I can understand the confusion. It would be nice if the 'current bid' changed to a different color when you are the bid leader, I think that would make it a little more obvious.

I am so confused on how variants work. I bought the Adam Duvall variant card which now has +1 or +2 in several attributed. How do I upgrade it to higher levels? I also have a Gordon Jones variant card that has several +1 increases when I bought the Adam Duvall variant card.

I don't understand a couple things that Nicolino mentioned. "You can use the cards in a boost attempt at any time." What is a boost attempt and how do I do that? "What are the points to boost my Variant?" Where are these points, do I have them (are they PP?) and how do I use them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To upgrade it to higher levels:


1. Go to the "Variant Boosts" section from the main PT screen.
2. Choose the card you want to upgrade (in this case, the Duvall card) from the dropdown on the left side. This will populate a list on the right side with the top cards that have various "points" associated with them in the column in the second-to-right. These points are based on the relationship to the cards (teammates, same team, same decade, card type, card level, etc.) There is also three check-boxes, "Hide Variant Cards," "Only Show Duplicates," and "Only Show Selected."
3. From the list, use the toggle bubbles on the left side to select the cards you wish to use toward the boost. Once you click on one, at the bottom of the screen, it will show "Total Points" and "Total Points Required". Total Points means the points you've put toward the boost, and "Total Points Required" means the points needed to boost the card up one level.

IMPORTANT: ANY CARDS USED IN A BOOST WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR COLLECTION ENTIRELY AND YOU CANNOT GET THEM BACK. THAT MEANS THEY WILL DISAPPEAR. THEY WILL BE GONE. FOREVER. WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH. THEY WILL BE ELVIS AFTER A CONCERT AND WILL HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING.

4. Regardless of if you have made the points to gain for the level, you can select "submit cards" to submit those cards for the boost, and can complete the boost at a later time once you feel you have enough cards to complete a boost to a new level. Please refer to the note above as to what will happen to these cards.
5. If you have enough points to level the card (up to 1,000 points can be carried over between levels), you can select "Submit + Run Boost" to complete the boost to the next level.
6. Repeat these steps to go to the next levels, up to Level 5.

We want to give people some variety in the card pool, and being able to boost up cards is a concept that the game has been doing since last year, and a concept the team has looked at for some time prior to that. Our intention is to have more diversity with lineups and roster builds, both in tournaments and in league play, and to extend the useful life of a card for players who have them.

Yea, I almost liquidated my whole team to boost a 50 rated Kevin Elster. There is nothing about losing cards in the help text in the variant boosts page. This hint is hidden above the "Select Cards to Combine" card list in this page. Pretty easy to miss.

The pop up when you click to use the variant upgrader literally says "THESE CARDS WILL DISAPPEAR".

I hate these variant cards. The Whales can bring 10 variant cards into a Bronze tournament and essentially be allowed 10 Gold Cards in that tourney. I don't buy additional PPs. Tourneys and achievements are my only source for additional PPs. Now that is being taken away. I stopped playing tourneys last year by June. Looks like its going to happen again.

Not just the whales - anyone can. Just need to invest PP you do get into the variant cards you want.
