I thought that secondary team color would correct that but as everybody else’s stating it’s not working, that’s probably something that’s easily fixed with a patch I’m assuming.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. You need to mod the skin. To do that, follow this:

Go to File > Workshop Central > Open Workshop. That will open up Steam. Find the skin you want to change, click on it, then click "+ Subscribe". It might take awhile to download. Find your data/skins folder, open the subfolder of the skin you downloaded and delete the skin.bin file. Go to File > Workshop Central, click on the skin you want to change and then click on "This item is downloaded... re-install it". Then once it's done, go back to the skin folder and start changing things.

Then you need to change both fg_colour (& underline_colour otherwise it'll look weird with a green underline) in:
\style_sets\grid\entry_button_highlight.ss

You can change it to whatever you want, but I tested it with FF07eae2 and it looked good. It's a cyan colour with the same saturation and value as the green.

Once you're done making changes, delete the skin.bin file again, switch to a different skin, and then load the skin you worked on again. The changes should now be visible.

FWIW, I like the neon green text, but I get it if others don't. EDIT2: Honestly, if you don't mind the neon green text, just leave it alone. It's fine and it works. I'd only recommend people do this, and what proceeds in the following posts, if they absolutely can't stand the neon green.

EDIT1: To make it easier for people, I uploaded a simple mod of the skin. EDIT3: The mod has been updated to also change the neon green in the stat and standings leaderboards.

I'm not sure it'll work without steam, but we can try. Can you look in your skins folder, then open one of the skin folders and tell me what you see inside? If you have multiple folders inside including colours, constants, images, and style_sets then great, I'd only need to upload a small file. If you instead only have skin.bin and defaults.cfg then I'd have to upload a 100MB file.

EDIT: I'm attaching a zip of the small file in case it's the former.
Attached Files
File Type: zip entry_button_highlight.zip (772 Bytes, 3 views)

Okay, unzip this to your skins folder, go to game settings and change the skin pulldown to "ootp dark with cyan text instead", and then test it out. Let us know if it works.

EDIT: If you have any issues with it, delete the skin.bin file, and reload OOTP. Previous versions of OOTP have sometimes had issues with the skin fully loading.

EDIT2: Updated the upload to change the other green text that dawg1 later points out. Hopefully I'm done with this.

That's unfortunate. You see, all these colours are controlled by different files, the vast majority of which are not obviously named, and there are hundreds of them. Based on past experience I figured this file controlled them, I tested it looking at the standings screen, it changed, and I figured that was all that was needed so I didn't look any further.

Looking now I see you also need to change the entry_button_highlight_first.ss file and possibly entry_button_small_highlight.ss. The former file definitely controls the stats leaders screen you posted. I don't know what the latter file controls, but it's the only other instance of that neon green code in the skin, so maybe change it, maybe don't. Just know that changing the latter might change something you don't want changed.

For anyone who has already downloaded the above links, you only need to put these 2 small attached files in the grid folder. For anyone who hasn't installed the above large files yet, I'll update them, but it'll take some time.

What happens is the game uses the skin.bin file, not the others, and the skin.bin file only updates if you delete it first. But you also have to be out of the game, or at least out of the skin, before the game will know to rebuild it.

So this means if I go in and change the hex codes, to get the colors I want I always need to make sure to delete the bin because it pretty much rebuild the skin (compiles the skin) each time you delete the bin and your changes will only take if it is recompiled?

Also why does it seem like the hex code has a few extra numbers?

Yes. But the changes still won't show up until you re-load the skin by exiting the game or skin.

The first two characters are code for the transparency of the colour. If you want something fully opaque, you want it to start with FF (if you're changing something, you probably want this). If you want it fully transparent, then you want to use 00 (double zeroes; if you don't want anything to show up for this, use this). And if you want it something in-between, choose a different 2 character hex code (e.g., 75% = C0, 80 = 50%, 40 = 25%).
