They have to vote for 10?

The only 2 I see worthy are Ichiro & Druw.

Billy Wagner
Carlos Beltrán
Chase Utley
Andruw Jones
CC Sabathia
Andy Pettitte
Bobby Abreu
Ichiro Suzuki
Mark Buehrle
Félix Hernández - the only one I'm kind of iffy on; he looked like a Hall of Famer for a while until he just didn't anymore

I don't really agree with the max 10 votes, but it's probably for the best as I might throw a good 4 or 5 more guys on if I could.

Surprised they don't allow public to vote even if they aren't eligible to. Do an online voting thing and let the fans say who they want to see in the hall. Give the fans a say. Even if it won't count, at least the ones that control the balloting would know.

Yeah, that won't happen, but I would like it.

That's a great idea! Even if it's only to get fans engaged. And then once it's over, compare the writers' results with the public's. That'd be really interesting to see the differences.

I wouldn't. I don't so much mind the cheating ("if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying"), but I really don't think we should be rewarding players who risk their health which prompts even more players to do the same just to compete with them. Nah, if they get in after they're dead, fine, but not before.

I think the MLB aligning with DraftKings but banning Pete Rose validates anything the roiders did.

Finish this sentence: "Two ______ don't make a _____."

Selective morality may be fine for some, but I believe in standards. JMO.

(As my dad used to say, "if everyone else jumped off of a bridge, would you do it, too?" Which is why I missed out on the opportunity to make $$$$ running a bungee jump, I suppose. Thanks a lot, Dad!)

Bud Selig and the rest of MLB benefitting from the roiders should validate them. They knew. They allowed. They cashed in.

No, max of ten. Lovely rule that has led to some of the Hall's greatest hits like voters leaving Hank Aaron off their ballot. I do not like the HoF voting process but it is what we have,

Media, baseball media in particular, are too arrogant & pompous to think fans should be allowed to have a say They only say the fans matter when there is a labor issue.

Because steroids & betting on your own team is the same thing. If the Mitchell report had come up with the same results only the topic being gambling, you think sport would have come out just the same? Notice I didn't say baseball. I said sport.

You seem to think repeating the same erroneous reasoning will one day get anointed as logic. Just say you want Rose in Cooperstown & that suffices. You don't have to have an argument. "I like Pete Rose & I think he should be in the Hall.": EOD. Repeating this same tired irrational thought process makes you look like you are incapable of a sane rationale.

focus today is too much on stats -----

Little focus is placed on players who are willing to make the stat sacrifice for the team to win the game.

Or the pitcher who would eat innings to save the overworked pitching staff -- again getting outs rather strikeouts

It should be based on stats

It shouldn’t be a middle school popularity contest.

I would put forward that the average poster, on THIS board, has more and deeper knowledge on what a real HoF'er looks like than the average Hall of Fame voter.

I think some All-Star games do something similar? If the public vote accounted for 20-25% of the total but gave the media more say, that might not be the worst idea.

The fact that Selig is in the hall makes the argument for keeping steroid users out of the hall irrelevant.
