Fan Mode

Still think OOTP should have a fan mode. Would love to be able to pick a team to follow and have the game highlight all the news stories involving the team I'm following. Trades, promotions, demotions, injuries etc.

This is basically how I play using my fictional league. I just check in on box scores, watch an occasional game and I am constantly checking in on the news and pulse of the league. This is why I love OOTP and I've been around since the original OOTP(1).

Having said that, I would support the idea of a specific fan mode that I could enter when creating a league. Sounds interesting...

It's a great way to play. I love watching a league build history.

This is how I try to play until I see the AI do something stupid then I step in.

I basically play as a fan. The only real thing I do is draft the players otherwise I allow the computer do everything else. I love watching and following how the players progress.

Owner mode is fun too. Just set budgets, pick goals, hire the assistant general manager, and delegate everything.

I also prefer to let the AI play the game while I follow along, so any additions to bring more depth and variety to that mode would be good for me. It's also the way I "play" Football Manager.

Fan mode and owner mode both I'd love to see.

I may try that sometime, never really thought about owner mode as a thing That would be fun to do as an expansion team ...

I'm jealous. For those of us who are control freaks, or OCD, or micromanagers (or aspects of all three), it seems to be almost impossible to let a season play out, without intervening. Plus I love the in-game strategy decisions. Problem is, you would need unlimited time to play out 162 (or 154) games (postseason not a prospect for my teams) in a reasonable time frame. There should be a thread dedicated to helping those of us bogged down in the midst of season to play through as a GM or fan. LOL.

I like playing this way, also.

It's too easy to outsmart the AI when trading & drafting since I know the players' futures.
