First Season Finished: Help/Discussion
I honestly got this game because I was sick of watching Cleveland lose to NY and wanted to mess around with the roster. That said I obviously picked my first play through as the Guardians being a fan so playing through my first season on this I had little expectations BUT I went ahead and won the World Series with a record of 102-60 and season score of 1281 out of 1000.
Couple things I’m confused about, I can upload the save file if someone explains how to do that, but what’s up with the score first off. Second is it easy for you to have seasons like this? I made maybe 3 changes to the lineup as I recall. |

As LansdowneSt may have been alluding to, what were these 3 changes? I was going to give you a long spiel on how most of us probably choose not to take advantage of the AI, but since it's not clear that you did, I won't. If you want a challenge, just ask. People will give you plenty of ways to make the game more challenging.
But yeah, the Guardians are a pretty good team. And depending on the changes you made, your team might be a great team. You could sim the season without doing a single thing and Cleveland could win the World Series. They've definitely done well in preseason prediction sims over the years. Just because the Guardians haven't looked great IRL over 2 games doesn't mean much. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see them come back and take the series. If you're a Cleveland fan and you're down about them being down 0-2 in the series, don't be. They're still in it, 26 other teams aren't. As for the season score, I don't pay much attention to it. Sure, it might be interesting to see, but most people probably forget about it soon after. You play to win the commissioner's trophy, not to see some season score based on some unknown formula. It's not important.

Yeah, we're real curious what those three changes were. Of course, you had the slightly unfair advantage of seeing how the season played out, where the weak points were, that may not have been obvious last Spring to IRL Cleveland management. But that's not really "cheesing" the game.
If I were to take over my beleaguered 2024 Phillies as of last Spring, I would add a real MLB closer and a real MLB OF (in my defense, I was saying this last Spring), even if I had to deal prospects. I wouldn't lead off my second-best RBI guy. With those three changes, and me instead of a dozing Rob Thomson in charge, I would expect to improve the team. I wish I could second the encouraging things said about the Guardians; but honestly I think they are toast.
