It's a free country and one should enjoy the freedom to be out and about at one's whims & discretion. And drunk or reckless, therein lies the overwhelming majority of the blame. Still, there's validity to the saying that "nothing good ever happens at..." well, in this case 3:14 am. I say this from the perspective of a working musician who still - at my ripe age - spends a fair amount of time (typically driving home from a gig) in the wee hours... There are a lot of crazies out there at that time...

I drove home from work one morning and I swear I didn't remember the last 20 minutes. That was scary.

Yeah so let’s not drink and drive and let’s also not downplay drinking and driving, thanks.

Years ago, I worked 110 hours in seven days, and was up for most nights. I think I got 20 hours sleep in the week.

The last shift, I somehow made it home, and a trail of clothes went from the front door to the bed. It was pretty bad.

I've had some scary incidents as well. Thank God no one got hurt, I kept them at a minimum, and learned.

Let me give you a ridiculous incident when I was working a midnight shift.

A guy pulls up in my lane in a pickup. It was a clutch and he stalls the car because he was drunk. But he can't restart the car because it is fixed with something you have to blow into the start the vehicle.

He gave me a ticket from exit 1 so I know he's coming from out of state. He must have been ok when he started his journey, but drank the entire way. Go ahead and take a wild guess at what he asked me to do. I'm a toll collector BTW.

He ended up getting out of his car and pushing it to the shoulder. Someone came and picked him up. He got away with it.

Sounds like one of those "too ridiculous to be made up" stories.

I've been working there for 22 out of the last 27 years. That's the first time I ever seen one of those contraptions. What good are they if someone else can blow into it for you?

We weren't there. We can't know what happened. But I think considering the circumstances, and what the airline did as a result, we most likely had a disgruntled employee. It's sad. But I'm not going to believe Davis, with his wife and 3 kids on the plane hit a flight attendant.

Usually I don't jump on a particular side till I hear from both. But this sounds so clearly like someone was having a bad day & wanted to share it w/somebody else.

Given that super bowls have been dominated by a couple quarterbacks recently, namely tom brady and patrick mahomes, is it really smart to spend $50M a year on quarterbacks with limited playoff success? I guess the counter argument is that quarterback prices are likely only go up in the near future.

You're assuming playoff success is why they pay QBs. It is not. You just have to be halfway decent with no other alternative. That's what gets you paid.

Exactly. QB salaries are inflated because there are only about 20 men in the world that can approach mediocre @ the position. A classic example of supply not meeting demand.

As if the NFL's recent rules on kickoffs didn't already make them boring enough...

These rules were necessary due to the new kickoff rules.

They destroyed the kickoff, so now they're trying to fix it without going back to the original rules.

Judge says jury didn't follow his instructions in calculating damages owed by NFL. I fail to see how that would nullify the verdict. Just the amount the NFL is liable for.

You would think, right? But if the damages aren't substantial, why would the NFL change course?

The one thing I know for sure. Whatever the NFL does in response, making Sunday ticket affordable for everyone isn't going to be on the table.
