Insane game in Clemson ruined by the umps...........Florida leads the series 1-0 & can clinch a berth in Omaha w/a win. Up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, man on 2nd, Clemson batter hits week grounder up 1B line. Ball, pitcher & baserunner meet @ the baseline & bump each other. Florida pitcher giver the Clemson player a shove & then the Gator 1B gives him a shove as well. Benches empty. But a player is ejected. Not the pitcher. Not the Florida 1B. Not even the batter. But the baserunner on 2nd! Why? Because there is a rule you can't come off the base during an altercation. But that was the 3rd out. Inning was over. And look which direction the Clemson dugout is. The 1st base side.

Tiger manager obviously is furious. Tells the umps he's not telling his starting 1B he is out of the game & demands they tell him themselves. Stupid w/an extra side of idiocy.

Clemson later takes a 3-2 lead, Florida takes it back @ 5-3. By the top of the 9th Clemson is down 6-9. Then their CF, Cannarella, takes the 1st pitch he sees over the wall to tie it up.

As spectacular & clutch as that homer was, it wouldn't be the most amazing highlight. Not even the most amazing from Cannarella. Bottom 10, 2 out, man on 2nd, Gators hit a shot to straight away center due to land over Cannarella's head and............................

Go to the top of the 13th....And the umps once again show they are competent enough to be Wal-Mart greeters.......Clemson retakes the lead on a solo shot. And 2 Clemson coaches get ejected????? Now full disclosure, no one so far has explained why the 2 were kicked out. So maybe the umps were right. But I sit here & try to figure out what justification could sound legit in my mind to make me say, "Good job, Umpire." for ejecting to members of a team who should be happy about an extra inning lead. Once more, Clemson manager is pissed. I don't get why the umps were screening off the umpire who evidently made the call. You make an off the wall decision like that, you'd best be ready to answer for it. Especially since they say the coaches would be suspended for the next 2 games. Which means a potentially decisive game 3 tomorrow & the opening of the WS.

Insanity.

Bottom of the13th, Gators get the 1st 2 runners on. Clemson gets an out & walks the bases loaded & then...................

It was a great game. But tell me........Is there any level on any sport that has enough game officials to not ruin the most important games of the season?

I feel your pain. All I can say is, if you put me behind the plate...Angel Hernandez would look like a Hall of Famer. On the bases, I'd be OK. It's that first part that keep me from even volunteering to ump Little League games.

It's a tough job, and like any other there are always going to be a few screw-ups.

It's a tough job that doesn't pay beginners well. It also requires getting yelled at by stupid fans, parents, and coaches.

I think this is the main problem. Game officials are being scrapped from the bottom of the barrel @ the start. We aren't getting quality people to make this a career from the get go.

I, frankly, don't have the eyesight to umpire, and probably more importantly I have negative time for parents yelling at me. The first time someone who wasn't a coach crossed the threshold into the field I'd demand that they leave the premises immediately and if they didn't I'd declare the game forfeit and quit. Like, I'd probably get canned myself but I ain't about all that.
