random debut players' age

Is there any way to set/limit the players' age in a random debut game? I hate to see a historical superstar come in the initial setup at 39 years old. I'd love to have everyone come in at age 27 or younger. I even set up a random debut league and manually adjusted the ages of all players with POT of 50 or more by lowering all those over age 27 to 27 years old. It kinda worked but was kind of a pain in the butt to do.

What I do is start a regular league in 1895. RAH and players miss season as in history on. Import complete history of. Set a mature draft to 20 rounds. Set random draft for 1896-1900. (This will get all the pre 1901 players in your league.). Play to spring 1896. Reset rookie draft to players from 1901-present. Reset rookie draft rounds to whatever you like. (I use 8 with long term injuries off,)
Play to spring 1901. Go to league functions, bottom left of screen click the 8 options to erase career stats, service time, entire history etc.. Then near top of that page, left column you can select inaugural draft. Also good time to change any of the other option if you want for your Random League. Also a good time to make a backup of your game, then restore the backup using a new name for your league.
Your league will start out with your middle age and older players being those that started careers in late 1890s that played in 1901 (Cy Young, Mathewson, Honus Wagner, Nap Lajoie, etc.). And your younger players with up to 4 years actual MLB experience will be from the 1901-present time frame.
This might sound complicated but it only take about 10 minutes longer. I like seeing the league transitioning from the great early 190os players to the newer era.

Someone else posted the following on how they start.

Here is what I am doing for a 1903 RDL:

I am starting in career mode and importing the complete history up to 1902. Since I am not starting in Random Debut Mode, there will not be an Inaugural Draft. All 16 teams will already be established and will have the original players and statistics through the 1901 season. So, stars like Nap Lajoie, Honus Wagner and Cy Young will already be in the game. I play out the 1902 season at the end of the season (and beyond) rookie drafts are set up to include random players from 1903 thru 2000. The Amateur Draft in 1902 will make them eligible for the 1903 season. I set up the 1902 draft during game setup.

There are old threads (link below to one but the original thread about this is buried out there if interested in searching for it) that indicate that if you delete a player (say, a 36-year-old Ruth) before the inaugural draft is run, they will appear later in the game as if they were never part of the initial draft. Just search for threads from a few years ago. Not sure if it still works that way. But even if you deleted them and kept a Word doc of who you deleted, you could sprinkle them back into the drafts by manually importing them into later year drafts.

But keeping everyone that young will cause an age-related talent jam as new players come in and others don't retire.

So, if you let the 36-year-old Ruth stay and play and then made him 30 years later as an import, you could also call him Babe Ruth Jr.

Under the Players & Team menu the game has an option box for Don't re-use player ID's. I'm not sure if it's on or off by default. Thinking if one wanted to delete Ruth and have him reappear later, they would want to make sure that box remains unchecked.

Interesting concept. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Thanks for this info. I'll see how I can incorporate that into the random debut league I set up.
