That's not a hill the OOTP devs want to die on, though. They have the license, and they want to play nice. A major sports league license with union support isn't easy to come by for any game.

But honestly, just the fact that someone has to put up a fight over this and be the offended party in this conversation that this conversation has got to the 3 pages, just because of what others do in their private lives... is more out of hand then having the ability changing the in game name of a historic team back to the name it used in history!

Like I have stated, I am Ojibwa, I am far from offended from ANY team name out there based on my people's history! I find it a huge honor that team names would honor the history of Native Americans, but because of people, who are not Native American, and would rather call us stuff like Indigenous people, which I will state my people are not indigenous to North America and are a mix of ancient people from Central and South America and Han Chinese (so like 2 to 3 thousand years ago), are the ones who are offended more than Natives. I was against the name changes of both teams, I tried to make my voice as loud as it could be on placed like MLB and NFL, I emailed whoever I could but the loud minority are the only people that get the coverage. People like me who do not go with the flow, are silenced.

Anyway, enough with my rant lol

But, really, is he or she any worse than someone who offers nothing but cookie-cutter pseudo-ideological hyperbole?

I honestly wonder about people who throw around terms like “do-gooder” as pejoratives and wonder why others think of themselves as the bad guys. You want to not be labeled a bad guy, try not sounding like Skeletor… granted, he has that one line “I don’t like to feel good, I like to feel evil” that I try to live my own life by. Maybe instead of “do-gooder”, maybe refer to people who think differently than you do on issues as “bubble headed boobies”.

This is the bottom line: however you may feel about the Guardians, this is MLB’s decision and the only decision a tiny company like OOTP has is whether or not to use the Guardians logo and image for historical leagues or else have no MLB logos or images at all. It is trivially easy to download and install logo and uniform packs and all of those out of license items are in there. I have Chief Wahoo on uniforms in my own save.

Yes, because in his (or her) arrogant self promotion, real harm is being done.

This is true. I'm doing the 1964 Indians as a starting point. And I have the real logo and uniforms. Its took all of 5 minutes to download them and fix them in the game.

Sure but as you say it's trivially easy to download or just use stuff already available a few folders over. And the data are public domain. So the licensing doesn't seem to be a big deal either way. Seems in fact licensing is infringing more than contributing.

Well, likely yes your wayback ancestorial line migrated from other continents, as has virtually all of humanity. So in that sense no one is indigenous, which is not how its used obviously. If you have to reach back to the Han Chinese migration then for all intents and purposes you are indigenous because these days your culture and heritage likely has nothing of Hans Chinese in it.

But, part of what OOTP brings that say, Draft Day Sports doesn't is the ability to use real players with the accompanying credibility that an in game data base brings. There is no need to rely on some sketchy third party database.

Just make the name change in your database files and keep it moving. No one cares about the griping over the name change. It is what it is.

Shhhh! What are you doing?—don’t ruin the dramatic irony for the rest of us! These threads are great for posts that remind me of going to the zoo as a child and: “I’ve read about these in books, but they’re so much more real to me now that I’ve seen a real one”.

You could be right. But with all the stupidity out there in the interwebs, where I come from its customary to either type sarcasm in italics or end the post with a /s so people don't think you're a moron. I'm enough of a moron to begin with, I don't need to add to the narrative needlessly.
