I think it's because you'll get a few extra games in, earning those PP from achievements. And getting a jump on collection missions, buying/selling cards, etc.

As annoying as it is, most of the player base is probably on steam. I wouldn't want to make the majority of perfect team players feel shafted where they are now discouraged from spending money on PT but on the other hand it could make them feel like they need to buy packs to catch up, don't have much insight though as I have never spent money on PT. I just hope we get another patch to fix the draft pick compensation bug before the steam release since it's delayed.
