I'm not sure. That's probably part of it. And partially it may be because the minors are about player development rather than competition, so arranging opponents based on a fair scheduling format isn't considered an important factor.

A better metric would be fielding percentage.

You would think with his numbers it'd be a shoe in even w/the Angels. Only 8 teams have yet to make the playoffs since he entered MLB. Angles are one of them. The Rangers & Orioles will no longer be 2 of them. And this is in an era w/10 franchises making it past the reg season. Not only have the Ohtani/Trout led Angels not made it, they haven't even been in the race down the stretch. They haven't even finished above .500.
