Every Pitch vs One Pitch mode

I’ve recently just went to 3d. I have been around since first version. Old guy reluctant to change but starting to really like it. Immersion factor setting in

Secondly I always play out all my games and micro manage day to day. I always only played out in one pitch mode but since changing to every pitch on 3d, I am so much more immersed into the game and how it plays out It just feels more realistic watching your pitcher get through five and then start struggling taking counts to 3-0, 3-1 after being ahead in counts. I’m sure it was always there in one-pitch but just didn’t seem to jump out. The base stealing, bunting, hit and runs just feel better when you work to a realistic count to support it. I’ve always hated that part in one pitch where it just did it on an 0-0 count Curious to hear if any others play it out like this and what their takes are Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I do like to see every pitch when playing out games because strategies do matter in different counts. One pitch mode saves a lot of time so it's hard to move away from that. I wish the game would allow us to see the current count and then we decide what to do (instead of always starting 0-0).

I like to fly through my seasons so it's one pitch only unless I'm in a critical moment.

I use one pitch mode. I would use every pitch mode if I could pick what pitch I'm throwing.

I have played every pitch mode for 6 full seasons so far. I enjoy the immersion.

FWIW the game doesn't really do "every pitch mode"; it generates a result first, then gets to a semi-random count where the result happens (obviously you have to get to 3 balls for a walk and 2 strikes for a strikeout so it's not completely randomized - there may be some extra fitting in there, too, to account for the fact that averages are higher on 2-0 and 3-1 counts, for instance). This does mean that you can seriously cheese the game in one pitch mode if you aren't careful, particularly by taking until you get to 2 strikes. Otherwise with the strategies I'd recommend you try stealing only once or maybe twice at the most per count because I believe that's what the computer does. With bunting I've seen the computer do that multiple times per at-bat (with pitchers it will even bunt with 2 strikes and hit one foul for strike 3) so with that you can go crazy. The hit-and-run is probably also a once-per-trip thing, which, if you're trying to be immersive, you're probably waiting for 1-0 or 2-1 anyway.

One of my favorite things to do with OOTP is to auto-sim entire games in every-pitch on one monitor, while I do work on my main monitor. It's like streaming a real game from inside the Doctor Who TARDIS, where the game in question can be from any place and any time.

And it's also just a nice background thing to have running while I've got actual work going on at home.

Every pitch. I like to see pitch placement. If they are missing the strike zone that can totally change my strategy in the middle of the at bat.

Like others mentioned earlier, more immersion. I feel more invested in my team and it has an impact of the roster moves. There are players that I have shopped around, but did not find equal value so I kept them. Watching them play every pitch mode made me realize I undervalued them. Scouting ratings can be skewed. I use one-pitch mode for more realism/immersion.

For the sake of time, I use the one-pitch mode.

Love the immersion playing out games and watching it in 3D animation. But I may occasionally try the per pitch mode... may like it, too. |

Depends for me, there are times where I use one pitch and other times when I use every pitch mode. For example, if it's the final out of a game 7 or any series clinching game in the playoffs I use every pitch mode for that.

errors are per pitch.. but nearly everything related to the RNG of the game causing results is per PA (or AB? not thinking too deply here, but the increment definitely not per pitch except for a few things, possibly just errors/balks). the seed for the 'hit or miss outcome' outcome doesn't change after it is created until next player up to bat. basically if they get a good seed, they have a very high probability of a good hit. crash the game and restart over an dover and you see it. if they have a low seed, crash and restart the only positive outcome is when you get a fieldingn error, lol. I have tried pitch-by-pitch, and no doubt it is realistic; but it just takes too much time. I might use one pitch until the late innings with the game on the line. One compromise of sorts is to use the widget for pitch location, speed, type in one-pitch mode. Then you can see how the pitcher is throwing, and what pitch the batter hit. On defense, you can tell if your guy is hanging curve balls, or not getting them over, of too many fastballs up in the zone; all useful information to the manager and pitching coach.
