Yeah but that was my example of a regular season rule not in effect in the postseason. At least it wasn't until '22, who knows what they'll come up this time...

Yeah, I questioned that after I put it out there.

I’m actually surprised that eliminating the shift had such a big effect on LHB BABIP. I was very skeptical but even if the overall effect is only like 7 or 8 points, the fact that it’s all coming from lefties who were previously getting kind of BABIPed out of the game is nothing but good news to me. I’m generally of the opinion that of something works, we should leave it in.
I’m also hopeful that there will be a general downward trend in Ks with BABIPs trending so high now but I’m also skeptical…

Chinese-American Appreciation Night variant? I have no clue. I don't even recall North Windsor having a Chinatown.
I like the number font, at least. (I'd ask if we need to read from right to left, but it doesn't matter in Heaney's case, apparently.) |

Last night was my first time looking @ the Rangers, so I thought I was just behind.

Hmm… serious question but is there a major NE super metro city or West Coast city that doesn’t have a Chinatown? Perhaps I’m spoiled by growing up on the Best Coast and now living in Chicago but it feels like an “international district” is a staple of a large city that had immigration in its past (I’m leaving out the South because I do remember Atlanta not having one).

Well, I know Detroit has Greektown and Dearborn has a large Islamic population, but now I'm told those are the Rangers rather than the Tigers, so clearly I am rather far afield, literally.
(Not too abashed that I have not tracked where Andrew Heaney is, honestly. And yet,) |

Eh. As usual all evil in the world can be tracked to the absolutely ghastly City Connect crap that has been soiling baseball for years.

Yeah I can definitely say that Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area (Oakland technically doesn’t but it’s all one metropolis and SF has one of the biggest ones in the country), LA, and Chicago all have pretty huge ones. Not sure about San Diego, which grew up primarily as a military town and Mexico-border city but it still wouldn’t surprise me. I haven’t really lived on the eastern seaboard but NYC of course has a large one, too, and the original city being cited, Toronto, almost has to have one, it being Canada’s NYC.

Back to true baseball stuff, I found this rather funny. (And I didn't want to post it in the Mets thread to avoid the impression of piling on.) I read it on my phone. Here are screenprints.
First, from the title, the gist of the article; not very complimentary, of course: But as I am reading, this ad pops up: and it keeps on popping up, over and over again, as it happens on smart phones; oblivious to the tone of the article: Yes, baseball is certainly different here! Ha, ha. ![]() [Not funny, huh? Yeah, in retrospect I don't think so either. I guess you had to be here. ]

No idea where I raged about the ******* box scores on MLB.com earlier this year, but apparently they have now semi-changed it back to THIS:
Better! Just like the Mets' stupid pen trying to, but not actually ******* up a 7-run lead.
