They could get quite a package - even now - for two and a half months of Ohtani. They aren't going to win anything this year, and figure to be out-bid for his next contract. Go for it!
Mike Trout has seemingly been injured every year since 2017. Moving him would definitely crater the fanbase. I'm interested in how long Ohtani can maintain the burning the candle as you put it. He is already gone past where I thought he would of just switched over to hitting, and if he was moved to a team where they wouldn't need to rely on his pitching. It would be interesting to see what he could accomplish.

Team 100%, and that goes for all team sports. Whether the team is good or sucks, I'll go regardless. Some of the best Brewers years for me were the mid 2000s because games were so easy to go to.

As a Red Sox fan I follow the team no matter what, although I have been pretty annoyed in recent years by ownership's unwillingness to pay top dollar to hold on to our stars.

That said, I live in Philadelphia and so see a lot of Phillies games as a neutral spectator. In that case, I am absolutely paying money to see Bryce Harper and whoever the visiting team's stars are. To feel the whole energy of the place change because one of the game's great players is at the plate in a key spot is worth it for me.

Definitely 'follow the team' for me. I've been to four MLB games in my life - one in 1976 in Cincinnati (where I became a Reds fan at a very young age) and three in 2009 in Toronto when the Reds paid a visit.

Having Joey Votto on the team all these years has simply been a bonus, not to mention having his mother tap me on the shoulder at one of the games because I was wearing my Votto jersey. ("I always get a kick out of seeing my name on the back of a jersey" was her response. )

I for sure root for the team. I live in Chicago now and the only games I really go to see on anything like a regular basis are when the Mariners are in town (although sadly I missed them last week ). I will say that I've been watching more games this season because the game itself is easier to watch than it has been for years, but I'm not sure how that translates here.
