Helpppp

Ok, I truly love this game but am on the verge of quitting for good because of the LITERAL SAME SCENARIO happening to me every year. I will jump out to a huge lead in my division, BUT once the all-star break or last month of season comes I contiuously go on 10-15- one time 17 game losing streaks that 99% of the time knock me out of 1st and out of the playoffs. It happens every year, I have altered coaches, brought in players with specific personalities that give you a clubhouse boost, nothing works. Literal SAME outcome now for 9 seasons. ANYONE please ANYONE give me some pointers, it is beyond frustrating to put a ton of work into the team in the offseason to have the same exact outcome happen every year, and just flat out unfun having the same outcome over and over. Hell, I rather finish last at this point.

Are these downturns coinciding with injuries? Whenever I see threads like this the first thing I think of are injuries. And I'm not an advocate of lowering injury frequency (on the contrary, I increase mine), but I think a lot of people probably put too much focus on their best players and not enough on their bench. Or they sign stars regardless of their injury proneness. If a player is injury prone, I probably won't acquire them, unless of course they're just too good to pass up otherwise (I had a hole at 2B and an injury prone superstar 2B was willing to sign with me in FA and he's played great, but he also can't last a full season and always misses time in the postseason). And I also put a great deal of emphasis on my bench, my 6th and 7th SPs, and my whole bullpen.

Starting pitching. If your starting pitching is very good, you shouldn't be having long losing streaks, regardless of what point in the season you're at.

Injuries have been an issue maybe 2-3 of the seasons where I will have 5-6 players go down injured right before Sept run for the playoffs, but usually I have a healthy squad, maybe 1 player so I cant blame injuries. I am starting Season 10 now, can't give up. Too determined to get over this hump But I like the bullpen idea, I have a great 5 man rotation, never thought to possibly throw a 6th or 7th in there during run for playoffs. Thanks for the pointers! new to this community and game and both have been enjoyable besides my epic fails come Sept

See that is the thing. First 2-3 years I was developing a pitching squad. Drafted a couple studs. My staff right now, although most are young, none had over a 4 ERA in past 2 seasons. My top 2 starters I drafted are both 80/80 overall (i know that doesnt mean theyll throw perfect seasons), but it is hard to swallow when your combined team ERA for last two seasons sits right at 3.00 and is best in the league 2 years running but STILL same crash and burn scenario every year. I am starting another season now, determined to break this cycle lol. Do you think having 2-3 sparkplug personalities in the clubhouse could turn it around? That is my next thing to try I think. Thanks for the response, much appreciated! Community for this game is amazing!!!

Oh, that might be something you should look into: personalities (coaches and players), morale, and team cohesion. I don't normally have a problem with those myself, but it's not uncommon to see people grumbling about them. There's a lot to those, but try to get coaches who get along with each other, minimize the # of players who are selfish, disruptive, outspoken, acquire leaders, a captain, lots of players with high work ethic and/or intelligence.
