Real life the Dodgers have qualified for post season nine consecutive years. They've won one World Series. Clearly your game experience does "feel like MLB".

As I said before Brad, NNTR (no need to reply).
I was going to jump in and chide the old farts for not actually helping but... at the same time, this is a public forum and I'm sorry but you don't get to screen who replies and who doesn't reply to your posts.

To your larger question (to provide the illusion of help, heh) I think you were probably just unlucky. There are some builds that carry a little better into the postseason than others - you will rarely use the back end of your rotation, for example, and having a bullpen with 3-4 great relievers instead of 7 OK ones will carry you further - but since you kind of didn't provide any actual information about your team, all we can do is speculate. I also think that having players with bad platoon splits can come to bite you a little harder in the postseason as well, although that's also kind of a function of luck in the modern era - if you've got a roster full of lefties, for example, sometimes you'll just play rounds against teams that don't have strong left-handed pitching and you'll just get away with it. Also, fielding in OOTP is super important, arguably more important than IRL, but that is usually baked in to your regular season record.

So, like, probably luck. But who knows?

Brad - I'm clearly referring to the structure of the MLB, not the real life accuracy of simulation, this is a game after all, so should be way easier to win than in real life. Plus as I clearly stated, On every edition of OOTP I have had no issues in winning most seasons when managing LAD.

Syd - Thank you for the reply. Yes I get that I didn't provide every single piece of information, but I mean all people had to do was ask and maybe help come up with a solution as to why I am failing etc. I had the best defence in MLB on basically every sim I did, so can't be that. My bullpen was pretty great all round, however I didn't lower my bullpen in the playoffs, perhaps this is an issue? I did go to 4 starters though.

Reading back I am probably coming off as much of a **** as Brad did, so I apologise. I guess changing the structure is a decent suggestion as it would make things easier, however I am looking to keep the structure realistic to MLB.

Old games I have played often had a "help human" and "help AI" switch. I have on several occasions expressed a desire for a "help AI" switch in OOTP. I suppose they could do "help human" too. The problem is how to do it without messing up player stats.

Man, it seems to me that for most games, it's important for players to have a constant increase in their skills. As you said, you can do that with online simulations, and it's also offline. That's the system I used when preparing for a poker tournament that required me to be as focused and trained as possible. It was necessary so that bonza spins 251 login would not be as difficult as many other beginners. Now I have a good experience in the game, and I am sure I can even qualify for a big cash prize. This is a great motivation for me and many others.

As I've gained experience I've changed things to make it harder to finish first.

Exactly. Winning every year with a good team (aka the dodgers or Yankees) is boring as dirt.

I wonder if Josh has won the World Series yet.

Sometimes the dice just don't drop in your favor. I had a Tigers team that went 117-45 but proceeded to lose in the first round to the twins who only won 87 so yes, it can be like a kick to the junk.
