Same for me. I’m disappointed that it has been out for a month and is still pretty much unplayable. I am used to it taking a couple of weeks for them to patch it, but this is getting bad.

Same here, I'm only doing fictional simulation because there's no point at trying to do anything semi-realistic or strategic.

Unplayable is a stretch but I guess it depends on what you're trying to run.

I'm patiently waiting for the patch (playing some FHM to celebrate the start of the playoffs), but I wonder if maybe a smaller patch for the (seemingly) simpler things might be possible? Like, I don't know anything about how to code a game like this, but I would think that a fix to the rain delay bug should be far simpler than tweaking trade AI.

It's obviously "playable" but I think some of us would rather then iron out some kinks/new bugs until we dive into modern sims. No guarantee that stuff gets resolved in the near future obviously, but that's my hope. Some of the things I've read about the AI and finances make me not want to play because I feel like I'd just end up unhappy with how it goes.

I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I'm always really fired up for this game at the start of the real baseball season and if certain problems that eventually get patched don't actually get patched until 100 games into the major league season --- that is a mega failure. By that time my Cubs are already out of contention and my enthusiasm for baseball has been greatly reduced, meaning I've already started to fade away from OOTP a little. So for it to not even be "playable" up until that point = BAD.
I personally think this year's game has been pretty darn good. The two issues that conern me arethe two-way player issue and some financial issues. The two-way player thing has been an issue for years, so it is what it is. But a lot of people seem to be saying financial issues make roster moves impossible 4 or 5 years in. I manage every game, so Im still in year 1, but this report is very concerning to me.... If the pending issues that we are waiting on a patch for don't require starting a brand new sim, that's fine. I can totally accept that given that my sim moves slow since I manage every game. But if I'm going to have to start a new sim to get the patched fixes darn near 25% of the way into the real baseball season.... that's just not good business. Still waiting to see if the mods can confirm if the two-way player fixes and the financial fixes are going to require a new sim in order to take affect..... they haven't answered that question yet, which has me a little concerned. I'd almost suggest releasing the game 2 months earlier than usual, knowing that the initial version is always filled with problems. That way maybe it can be properly patched up by opening day as oppsed to 100 games into the major league season. Last edited by md40022; 05-02-2023 at 01:57 PM. |

We have multiple pieces to coordinate for the patch, and we want to make sure that we tackle most of the issues and don't make anything worse. The aim is for later this week to have the public beta version online, and then early next week to officially release it.
Certainly if you're not too far into a game, it won't require a restart of the game unless if you need whatever is included in the roster update. As for the rest, most of the issues will end up resolving over time. Even right now, if anyone is worried about league financials, you can always increase the default financials in the league to give everyone more money. Any changes in player creation or development will take time to work their way into a league no matter what league you are playing. Although even there, in the worst case the drafts will run "hot" for a few years before cooling back to normal - from what we have seen, it's not like drastic changes, but lots of little changes to make sure the balance stays reasonable. |

Not trying to trash on the developers. I love this game and have been playing for years. But I am starting to think there may be something to those who have been saying PT has negatively impacted the real game. |

I think we all appreciate you trying to get it right but at the same time you could of fixed issues in smaller patches like you normally do for example the weather ruining peoples historic saves that you would think would be simple and easy and a lot of the people pissed off would be content to wait for the next patch

I, also, like playing the game, especially the historical seasons, but PT is the cash cow and certainly would take precedence! |

The other day for example I just wanted to re-sim the Harper Nats years, so I fire up a game and boom hundreds of players that shouldn’t be there are there and I actually can’t play it because deleting them all leaves no free agents and some teams actual players get replaced with 1880s players. At this point in the year I shouldn’t have to boot up 22 or 23 to play a historical sim. Last edited by KingDavis; 05-02-2023 at 10:24 PM. Reason: Additional info |

Financials
In my complete ignorance (and playing as the ever cash strapped Marlins) it took until mid 2025 to encounter my first WTH? moment with the financial problem.
30 y/o RHP Josh Staumont asked for an extension and since he is pretty good in my game and stats wise, I figured I would try to re-sign him. He is asking a reasonable $5.5M annually for a two year deal. For the very first time I've seen that I have an anticipated 2026 budget of $112M (down from $130M 2025 budget) and even though I only have $65M in 2026 player expenses, leaving me over $56M in available money for extensions and $33M in cash this year... it is saying the owner refuses because I don't have the funds. Now what is different for me than what I have seen written here in complaints about the financials is, the original Marlins owner died during this past offseason and a new owner took over. In my mid-season review he isn't happy with my NOT signing a M.V.P. player but is ecstatic with all other facets of my G.M. duties. Don"t know if it helps any, but I am playing the .52 version while this happened, so maybe all is not well fixing the financials? |

The public beta patch coming in a day or two will have a fix for this. There was a bug with the owner budgets.

The whole project to merge the historical database with the roster db took the best part of six months. We're talking millions of lines of data and I don't even want to think about how many fields. It's definitely the biggest and most complex project I've ever been involved with in regard to OOTP. It was necessary to enable us to expand and improve the db in the future and fix the legacy bugs, but unfortunately we just couldn't quite get all the bugs the merger created squashed in time.

Now that being said, we've made up an updated historical db that fixes the vast majority (if not all) of the wrong dob guys from the 19th century and most of the merged players.
This will be in the public beta patch that should be out in a couple days, but we didn't want folks to have to wait any longer. https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview..._db_update.zip Just download this and unzip into your stats folder (overwriting the files already there, which should be found at yourootpinstalllocation\ootp24\data\stats Then start a new historical game, and you'll get the updates (along with a bunch of other db fixes). If anyone finds some of these guys that got missed, please post here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/....php?p=5006323
