Getting Fed Up
Tournaments and Perfect Drafts are more important than the main PT game, in terms of reward. I wouldn't mind this, except that Tourns especially are absolute torture to derive stats from. Btw I'm playing on mobile, not sure if that makes a difference.
The essential core of all sports management games is getting good data on played matches so that you can see what works and what doesn't so improvements can be made. Every tournament resets stats to 0. Am I missing something, or why can't player tournament stats be saved somewhere on their card like it is for the main game? And why won't the game at least show vs left stats? It's infuriating. I've tried tracking in a spreadsheet but it's just too tedious. And the rewards are way too important to just ignore these modes entirely. I'm about to just give up on the game, it's that annoying. Last edited by kevlargolem; 04-21-2023 at 04:45 PM. |

Some of the Discord crowd keep databases on tournament stats, but it's far too tedious for me to strip the stats and export them to a spreadsheet every time there's a new tournament. I tend to use a plus/minus system for analyzing individual player performances over multiple tournaments, but that's obviously going to miss a lot of details.
The biggest problem with tournament analysis is that some of the teams entered are sub-optimal, so it's hard to determine whether your Kingman card is really, really good or just fattening up on bad pitching choices. |

Yeah I tried one last "try hard" day. Bought a few replacement players, actively adjusted my roster mid tourn to try to ride hot players, etc. Not a single pack earned in over a dozen attempts. Too much guess work, too much RNG, purely a numbers game of cranking out maximum number of attempted tournaments. Nothing about it is fun. Time to find a new game

Tedious is the word for it. I've only won a single tournament in the three weeks I've played, but was fortunate to come in second twice in PD. Tossing in an occassional diamond pack eases the sting a bit.

The last few days have been brutal...it's like they changed things up. But I also realize that fewer teams are now playing tournaments then when the game released, as they are taking longer to fill up. So you are playing against the same die hards as you, and there are fewer and fewer lesser teams.

If you're finding it really difficult to win tournaments, maybe try a different kind. For me, there's one type that I try pretty hard at (analyzing data) and I very rarely win or place (1/16?) and there's another that I don't try nearly as hard at (don't analyze at all) that I have a surprisingly good success rate with (1/6?). Different types of tourneys probably have different philosophies they work best with. Or it could be that the better players are more likely to be drawn to some types of tourneys more than others.
Yeah, I'm seeing this too. There are certain teams my team keeps coming up against and losing to (those damn Corgis, why royalty likes them I'll never understand), but then there are other teams we keep beating that I feel bad for. The thing I like is, it's not always the better teams we lose to and the weaker we beat, it seems like it's pretty even in that regard. And just when you think a certain team has your #, you start beating them a few times. But yeah, more variety in the opponents would be nice.

Just kind of silly and frustrating at the same time. Last week my team won 27 tournaments, and this week...3. Same team...sucks that it is happening but I guess...fun...that I have to go back to the drawing board....I just always feel that they do something behind the scenes to change what metric is important on a weekly/daily basis..but thats just me.

I call it GVIGT, or "Greater Variables Inside Game Theory". Just like we say in the World Series - "Anything can happen in 7 games". The same holds true for Tournaments and PT Drafts. Sure, choosing a bad roster will likely earn you a "FAIL" but pulling the best roster can earn you the same thing. Given that I've seen this scenario play out over a lifetime, I just can't get to too excited over entering Tournaments or PT Drafts when I'm rarely going to win for the massive effort.

With no new cards, what changes would I be making?

I still don't know why we can't just have an option of saving tournament data. I'd even settle for tournament rosters staying correct. It's crazy that as long as I've played this game now, 3+ years, there's still a roster bug for tournaments. It's getting disrespectful to customers at this point, as it takes time to enter tournaments, and then you go on a losing streak, only to open your roster and find it's some random roster all of a sudden. Come on dev team... it's a bit absurd this still isn't fixed!

How about this novel idea... let's hold the dev team accountable for bugs that have lasted years? As someone who has owned a software company of over 15 years, I've never witnessed anything like this. It's straight up crazy how many major bugs have lasted years and years.

I don't do any of that and I do OK. However, M. Hwilensky is absolutely right that something changed on Monday. My success was reduced by half. So, not arguing with the results, I revamped my whole team from top to bottom and have recovered a little bit, but the days of 30+ packs are over. |

I just wish it were easier to find which tourneys you were just in. Let us sort by "most recent completed" or something like that.
