Any way to purchase or play OOTP 23?

I've been searching for it to buy but no luck.

I almost always use an expansion team in OOTP as i love expansion drafts.

In OOTP tho, it starts right from the summer if you do it right away so you're left with the FA leftovers and your minor league teams can't play the entire year.

So I usually sim the first season and do it in the off-season. I want to do that and then be playing the 2023 season.

Is there a way to still get or play the game these days if you didn't buy it last year?

If you don't already have it purchased, it's typically unavailable once the new version is released.

You could in theory start a historical game in 2022 and do the same thing in 24. (If you have it.)

Would all the teams still have their full minor league systems?

I remember once I tried to go back to the 03 Tigers and see what I could do and it was just the 25-man roster and like 8 minor leagues in AAA.

If you choose to import minor leagues, yes.

Best kept secret in baseball:

It's a demo version but may work for just creating a save game you can import into '24.

Nope. You can only buy 24 now. I don't really know why they do this.

You could buy 24 and start an historical league in 2022. Play out that season then take over a team.

You DO understand that NO teams had 'systems' in 1903? Branch Rickey had yet to come up with that idea. So a historically accurate MLB would have NO affiliated teams.

Maybe he meant the 2003 Tigers

And I would imagine based on the number of players he saw, he didn't import the full minors.

Yeah I never understood this either, why we could never buy old versions. Specially considering the switch to not even providing demos anymore.
I guess we should be content we're still able to import past versions.

Here's a thread discussing the initial announcement and it has the reasoning why OOTP 22 and previous versions were pulled: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/....php?p=4909008

However, they didn't say that would extend to all future releases, so I am not sure whether OOTP 23 was pulled for the same reason or not.

It seems odd to me to not have the previous version available not even a month into the release of the new one. Others have pointed out that until some of the bugs get ironed out, they would stick with 23, and if I was a potential new customer to OOTP at this point in time and saw that, I might consider buying OOTP 23 too... but alas I wouldn't have the option.

I am sure with this latest version it has to do with the leagues available...and they weren't going to pull them agin from 23 in order to avoid another PR disaster, so they just pulled the version all together. I am not positive the is the reason, but it's my best guess.

Well, buying it from Steam would have had all the latest updates applied, so those leagues would have already been gone.

Ah so because of PT we can't buy older versions. Just another reason why I hate games that have "live services", it always shuts down at some point and players who still play are just SOL.

Right, that's the part I didn't really want to say. COM2US most likely just wants every potential customer to get the newest game so they potentially can spend on PT. Can't do that in OOTP 23, so axe it from the store!
