Game freezes and craches

Okay, first of all I'm a big baseball fan from Sweden and always loved ootp and always been happy with what I got. But today has been a stressful day. I had hoped to get my franshice going. But instead, I've had to sit for hours trying to solve recurring craches and freezes. I understand that you are doing your absolute best. But is it really meant that I bye a game to a computer that clearly meats the system requirements, and then knock off all the Details in 3D mode for possibly trying to get play through a match. It doesn't really feel like a solution even if it were to work. Which it doesn't either.

Sorry I sound so negative, but this wasn't what I had expected. Hope for a quick solution and feedback

Robin, the more details you can provide, the better the chance that the problem can be resolved. Also, if you haven't seen these instructions, I'll post them here:

If it still crashes, then we'll need some more information from you.

So please let us know the following:
Are you on a PC or Mac?
What OS are you using?
Do you have the game on Steam or the Standalone or a different version (please name it)?
If you are on a Mac, what specific model Mac do you have? Also if you're on a Mac please attach the Mac crash report that pops up after a crash.
What are your system specs (especially your video card and your amount of memory)?
Where exactly does your game crash? What are you doing just before it crashes? Can you consistently get the crash to repeat by doing the same thing or is it seemingly random? Do you get an error message? If so, what?
Does this crash in only one saved game or in multiple saves? If only one, then we'll need to see your league files as per the instructions here (or you can just upload to Dropbox/Google Drive and post a link)
It would also help us to have the game generated trace file.

To generate that on a Windows PC, do the following:

If you're on Steam, right-click on your game in the Steam library, then Properties, and on the General menu click on 'Set Launch Options' and enter the word "tracemode" (without quotes.).

If you have the standalone, right-click on the OOTP24 shortcut on your desktop, click on properties and add 'tracemode' to the command line

Then try to start the game again. Get it to crash.

After it does so, navigate to the following folder: Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 24\debug

Find the trace file there and post with the rest of your information. That should have some data that will help us figure out why the game is crashing.

Please post that information in a separate thread in the bug reports forum. We'll take a look at the report as soon as possible and get in touch with you as soon as we can if we need more information.

We should have a hotfix for this soon.

One thing that may help in the meantime is if you're seeing this, if you go to main screen > settings > 3d & facegen > Open GL Mode > then select 'Use OpenGL only for 3D'

Please try that out and let us know if you still see this after that or not.

Yep simmed a few test fictionals without issues, each decades long. Now, can't sim more than few game days without hanging. Takes over cpu, up almost 100% until I end task it. Have used safe mode, reinstalled etc. Win11, gaming laptop specs. Am not using any graphics. Am simming multiseasons without graphics, mods, logos etc.

For anyone having these issues, we've made a build that will hopefully fix the black screens and crashing when pinch-hitting for a pitcher or switching to or from 2d modes.

If you're on Steam, you can access this by doing the following:

Joining the OOTP 24 beta

Open Steam client -> Library
Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 24
Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
Click on the beta tab.
Open the beta pull-down and select "beta". The password is ootp24betapt
Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
Open the client again. It should then download the beta build if there is one

If you're on the standalone/Fastspring version then please download and install the patch from any of the following links:

Windows: https://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.co...otp24setup.exe

Mac:
https://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.co...4Installer.dmg

Please let us know if this fixes the crashing issues for you (and also runs smoothly otherwise). We'd like to release this as a hotfix asap but need a few more eyes on this first to make sure things are properly fixed. Thanks

2 more things:

* I tried the GL fix, was able to sim the rest of the season. But am not able to sim any further. Always hanging in the same calendar range.

* Task manager does not indicate 'not responding'. The game does, but not tm.

When the season changes, there are some processes that can take quite a while, especially on slower systems. It's normal for the game to stop responding while working through this. So you may just need to be patient and give it a bit more time.

If after like 15 minutes it's still not responding, then we'd need to see your league files to see if something else might be wrong.

You can either ftp them to us as below, or post to Dropbox or Google Drive and post a link.

The original issue of the black screen during 3d play should be fixed in the new patch we've just released. If you run into any similar issues, please let us know exactly where and exactly what was happening just before.

Anyway, my CPU can produce at least 4.5GHz, so no, though your statement is ridiculous anyway, even if I were getting 2GHz.

Am guessing maybe corrupt file? Because the leagues I began before all this started are still simming fine. This all began after I downloaded the first update....

There could be an issue with something the league is trying to process on that date. What date in-game was it? If you could upload the league file from shortly before it hangs, we can investigate what is happening.

Dude, I don't know what to tell ya! The leagues already started under the initial release work fine! Those I made after the first update are all glitched. Though I rolled it back to the initial install and the issue persisted. All the leagues are the same basic structure - a major league of 5 teams with a default feeder system and a minor league. With no mods. So this is basic low-demand number crunching it's failing on.

Yeah, when I say it's something about the league, I mean that it might be some contract offer to a player in the league causing an issue, or or something specific to a team's setup. Uploading the league file for us to investigate is the best way for us to see what is happening and find a workaround or a fix.
