You’re having problems making sensible complete sentences, bucko! You should check with your developer.

My understanding is they still do this in the twitch streams or whatever, but I would greatly prefer the information in text format where I can consume it at my pace. It is odd that OOTP has embraced the "pivot to video" approach that was huge like 8-10 years ago in media and was largely a failure.
This is what I'm asking for but get nothing but grief over it

If someone has watched all the videos and feels like doing a big solid for the OOTP marketing team and those of us who haven’t kept up on the stream of twitch/YouTube/podcast… I sure would appreciate a general summary of what the changes are. Yeah I’ve seen the link that still doesn’t have any updated info. Obviously it’s not any poster’s job, just thought I’d ask since apparently marketing is not worth doing in the written form.

What is PT plus? Did they focus test that name? Why am I gagging hearing the word “plus”? Is it like a subscription model or whatever euphemism we’re using these days? What are they called in shooters again? Season passes?

I am not an English speaker and I am not good at listening to English, so I prefer documents.

This is a great summary for Perfect Team and should be the model for franchise mode summaries in the future.

I do have to admit, it seems the marketing team puts far more effort into covering/promoting PT over the base game. This is obviously reflected in discussion, podcasts and other forms of buildup.

EDIT: Even during the course of the normal year, the discussions on podcasts is overwhelmingly diedicated to PT over the base game. So many things that could be discussed related to strategy and yet there is rarely anything of note to listen to or talk about.

I was already on the fence about supporting a company that allegedly may or may not have simply decided to allegedly pretend a country that must be unnamed that they may or may not allegedly dislike simply doesn’t exist, but the lack of marketing for this game kinda makes me feel like they don’t want people to buy it. I didn’t even know it was coming out until I decided to come to the boards, despite the fact that I am signed up for the email list(last email I got was about an FHM9 sale in December) and apparently I have to watch a 90 minute video to get more than a one sentence barebones description of new features? The new trade deadline and especially the revamped international free agency sounds like it could be awesome but…they don’t seem to actually want to tell us literally anything about how they work outside of that stream, so my desire to actually play them is nonexistent at the moment. I’ve been around here long enough to remember getting Road To Release emails giving incredible details and screeenshots of all the new features, and maybe we were a bit spoiled with that, but good lord the lack of information outside of the stream this year is shocking. The bar to get me to keep buying any game I like with annual releases out of habit(literally never took Madden 22 out of the box and still bought Madden 23, which also has never been taken out of the box) is below ground, but this is testing even me.

It's really quite sad how they didn't do anything written. It's hard to commit 1.5 hours to a stream when the exact same material can be in a 10 minute article you can read at your own leisure.

Agreed.

I mean ultimately that's because their primary focus is PT. The base game has definitely suffered since PT was introduced, the solution if you aren't a PT person is just to buy the game every few years instead of every year.

Agreed. Or just wait for the season-end or Christmas sale. You still get a new game every year (fully patched!). You just don't get to be on the cutting edge March-Sept.

I think you guys are sort of missing the point. I am a BETA tester, and am trying to give an honest opinion about how things operate.

Understood, thank you for your perspective.

I've just kind of grown to expect it at this point. OOTP will never really care enough to do written deep-dives of franchise, just vague promises in the launch email.

yeah...for me it's not about if or when to purchase...for me, I feel it's my responsibility to always try to give an honest assessment of all things related to the OOTP base game. Sometimes people jump all over me because they feel I am too critical or negative...and maybe sometimes I do have a tendency to focus on things that I feel can be improved or changed...but I figure that's what I am supposed to do. My style is not to sit around and focus on what doesn't need attention, but rather to try and improve what feel does. I can be very blunt, and matter of fact at times I suppose, but that's just the way I operate.

Unfortunately, many people here have developed much more "thin skin" over the years, and consider themselves advocates (sycophants) for OOTP. So, for those who feel the forums are not the same as they once were...they are probably very correct. This was at one time a place where ideas and thoughts could be shared with mutual respect and even fun. Somehow society has gotten the idea that if someone doesn't agree with another persons' views, it's ok to shout them down...it's ok to just cancel and ignore them...rather than have honest discourse and rigorous healthy debate.

Just my thoughts anyway.

But getting back to OOTP...I don't know if the lack of detail is purposeful or not. I am not in a strong position to judge since I have known all of the details since the start of BETA...so that puts me in a tough position to say if the buildup was adequate for most people or not. All I can go by is what I see and hear in the posts and streams.

I am just pointing out that very few podcasts and/or streams deal with the base game. This is an all around the year observation from me. Whenever you see a new OOTP podcast 9/10 times it's going to be "This Week in PT". It is never really a strategy discussion about how to build a bullpen...or what I might look for in starting pitchers? What does an ideal lineup look like? What's the best way to manufacture runs cheaply? My list of ideas for discussions in endless really. I also used to host my own radio broadcasts however, so maybe it's not a fair comparison. I guess I am just saying they find a way to do it with PT, but not the base game for some reason.

We all knew this would happen when PT was first introduced and even more so when the company was sold to a mobile game company.

Guess I didn't miss anything by not listening to the podcasts
