Jersey Number Display

Will each player model feature an individual jersey number? Although we can edit jerseys, it does not appear in-game. The number is the same for all player models.

Good question for Matt. My bet is, like facial hair, it will be selectable by team.

Selectable by uniform. If you don't want name or numbers to show up, you can disable that.

Are we going to have to create a jersery png for each number? Has the jersey and/or pants template changed for 24?

We'll go through the details when things launch, but the general jersey template I don't believe has changed. There's a jersey font file that you can specify for the jersey to use (we'll obviously provides files for the MLB teams), with a specific setup, that the game can use to transcribe and add the numbers/letters to the jerseys.

This sounds great, Matt. Suffice as to say jerseys made in the '22 format will still work just fine like they do with '23?

OOTP23 and pre-23 uniforms will still work. Just have to add pants if you are using pre-23 uniforms.

Would be cool if each uniform was further customizable to display a number on the front of the jersey as well. A few jerseys (some alts, some retro, etc) use that today.

If the game can now do customized names and numbers on the back, does this also mean it can do customized team and city names on the front too?

This. I think the uniform options have a taken a big leap in the past two versions. Hopefully they can continue to add.

Now that there will be names and numbers on the uniforms, I am hoping the devs will consider a pants template, where you can change the style of pant legs. The one guy here made stirrups and leggings for OOTP 23. If not this year, please consider it for next year's version. The immersion factor will be awesome when playing the old time teams if the players are wearing stirrups and leggings.

Definitely this! It should be an option for uniforms. The pants down to the shoes just doesn't work for people who prefer a more classic look.
