Are there pre-order or loyalty bonuses this year?

The problems here are that some of the public expect huge changes when none are possible and the devs alleging huge changes when none are present.
Many, many huge changes are possible. They're just significant lifts that probably aren't possible with a yearly dev cycle.

Football Manager has the same problem: at a certain point, the devs just started tinkering around the edges and adding new ways to view the same information because overhauling what happens under the hood is a bear.

OOTP would benefit from a top-to-bottom UI/UX refresh (no more hitting "ENTER" to refresh static pages would be nice); robust prospect and player development mechanics (with knock-on effects for international scouting, drafting, and minor-league management); much better modeling of pitches and batted balls within an at-bat; a dramatic overhaul of AI roster construction and trading (which seems like it's on the list for this year, but we'll see); and more of the kind of statistical data real-time front offices use to project performance and find edges—rather than topline numbers and a smattering of early-2000s sabermetrics.

We need to get much deeper into the guts of how modern baseball is managed and played. But that's a ton of hard and costly work. It's easier to make quick and profitable additions to Perfect Team.

If I preorder directly from OOTP developments to receive the 3 day early access, will I be able to transfer my game to Steam when it launches? I was hoping to get early access, but I prefer Steam since I typically like to run the game on a desktop PC and use Steam remote play to play from a laptop while relaxing.

The Steam version is a separate purchase. So, you would have to buy the game again to play it on Steam. Though the save file can be moved from version to version.

I like the convenience of Steam along with the Steam Workshop, so for the past two versions (v24 will be the third) I have passed up the early release.

Other's mileage certainly varies.

seconded all of this, but it's incredibly hard. it would mean they actually had to change the entire gameplay model.

financial model is incredibly basic and has room to reflect reality as well

I mean honestly what more do we want? Graphics like a ps5 game? They could never do that. Soon as they start using player likeness in the faces and such they have to pay for that and it is probably not in their budget

I am with you I notice very little changes but I do not look at that as a bad thing. I just think the game is so good not much you can change.

On the screenshots of the International Complex, it doesn't show any Japanese players. Will they still be included in the game as generic players (obvs not licensed from ***)?

Lets go!!

Always my favorite time of year when the new OOTP comes out and my favorite baseball team has not lost a game yet...

Tuesday can't get here soon enough.

Also, don't depress me further by starting Edwin Diaz on the DL. Please and thank you.

Do the developers make more if I order on Fastspring or Steam?

EDIT: Probably can't answer that... preordered on Fastspring!

They actually have been open about that: the answer is in fact Fastspring, although as they've said they get more views on Steam the more people order there so it's not a net loss for them if you prefer the latter.

I really wish there was an improvements/changes features list instead of "road to release" videos so I could nitpick what didn't happen and make my decision to drop coinage on it. I really hate sitting and watching videos for any game.

Yeah Valve/Steam take 30% of any purchase, so if you want more to go to the developers, better going the other way - https://www.protocol.com/bulletins/v...ent-commission

That is interesting. I didn't know this. Almost all the games I have bought from Matrix games and other publishers will give you a Steam key when it's released on Steam.

OOTP did do that for one year. I *think* they still have to pay Steam for the keys.

the fluff is by design. Do not commit details to paper.
Put a flashy graphic on the screen and 'people' exclaim instant buy.

One can always wait and buy from Steam and still get the discount after reading three days of impressions here. Actually the Steam discount is available for a week so one could get 10 days of impressions from the forums and still get the discount. Or, one can buy from OOTP directly through Thursday. That will give two days of comments here on the boards.

If that's not enough, or you don't like Steam, then fork over the $4 extra and get it later, or wait for a sale. Nobody is forced to buy at any time. It's all up to each of us.
