Yup that is what I am getting at. I am a big stat head and I love to go through the record books during saves, but one of my biggest irks is the records from say 1900 that are just entirely untouchable. I would love the ability to pick a year as a say cutoff when importing league history.

I would also like to be able to have an option to have my 1871-1900 record book separate from my 1901- present record book. I can always go to the backup but being able to do it from my current sim year would be nice. I don't know if it's possible in the almanac. |

1,600 posts here, many historical playthroughs, many of which I've written about extensively in dynasty threads... No, Markus. I'm not trying to troll here. Its a valid complaint and concern that has become A LOT more prominent in recent versions of the game.

One new thing that will make a big difference is that we now use a new pitcher BABIP rating in historical leagues. That will help pitchers who, in reality, always outperformed their expected BABIP but performed worse in OOTP.

And if there is any other important change in historical leagues, could you please tell us what they are, and not be coy about it - so far I have read these threads in the forum and watched the trailer and there is literally zero information about what has been done. You are asking me - granted to buy a good product - but asking me to spend money when I happily pla OOTP 23, so tell me what is added or changed please. Thanks. |

You are not being forced to buy anything right now. The features will be revealed in further depth in time. It is a rollout, this is how that works. You can absolutely wait until further information is provided to make your purchase decision. |

If it makes you historical guys feel better we’re not getting the perfect team reveal stream until two days AFTER the early access on the 21st… That seems a little late to the party to me.

As for historical changes, we'll detail more as we go through, but one of the big items listed was the addition of the pitcher babip field. I talked about it a little on the podcast, but it should help make the best players from the past who always seem to have an innate ability to miss bats reach their potentials. And it should also help teams who in the past on replays have under-performed without making all their players Ozzie Smith in the field.
There's some other changes as well - we have re-rated virtually everyone with new historical defensive ratings, which should hopefully better reflect their careers and again help some teams out who relied on big fielding. Plus even more items like being able to better auto-import everything from parks to historical jerseys if you download historical mods, and really let you actually play your games out in the historical context with very little effort from your part (in a perfect world, you can probably download a mod to one folder, and everything will magically work for you when you play through your historical game. In reality, you may have to move a couple files around, but hopefully it should ease the process). And even little things related to that, like when you're playing in the past, we'll go back to calling stadiums by their actual names (like Fenway Park), but still allowing easy access if you have a "Fenway Park 19xx-19xx" 3d model to use for when parks we re-named or changed layouts. |

If this works well it will be much appreciated!

I would hope to see real coaches and managers added. I know it's hard finding out this info because I've tried myself to do. Especially the older teams. Older teams tend to have less coaches. Some doing double duty like hitting coach and 1st base coach.

I understand why it was done but tbh the BABIP thing feels like a sop to people who don’t want to accept that for most pitchers it’s not a thing they can control and that guys like Allan Anderson and Johnny Podres just got hit lucky for a season or two (which, even though he was practically the poster child for the anti-DIPS crowd back in the day, his historical BABIP was below average for his career; he just had one really lucky year where opponents BABIPed .250). I know the mantra is always “just turn it off” but OOTP isn’t Strat and I think it doesn’t do super well when it tries to be Strat.
