Bringing up the Cleveland name change over a year later is beating a dead horse. Maybe I misunderstood your comment, and if so I apologize.

How about a mod move the last few posts to OT so we can have a proper flamefest.

LOL at "woke corporations are to blame".
A simple request, though. Please do not quote the trolls. |

My point was, and is, that discussion here on the forums first blames OOTP for everything. If you don't like the Cleveland comparison, fine - but the fact remains that responsibility must be directed where it belongs. OOTP is not an all-powerful god that can do whatever it wants, and the Nipon issue was out of their hands. |

You guys are hilarious. Really.
![]() EDIT: I just realized that this month makes 19 years that I've been on these OOTP boards. I haven't seen this kind of banter in quite awhile.

99% of the people who use the term "woke" have no idea what it even means.

I mean, in this case, the decision of a corporation to not want to associate with a clearly racist caricature of First Nations people is barely even “woke” to be honest, even if it took the semi-extreme step of cutting ties with First Nations people as a nickname/mascot entirely. I’m personally still of the opinion that done right, you can honor First Nations people as a sports team, don’t get me wrong, but Chief Wahoo was not it, “up yours woke moralists” and the like aside.

Woke is the stupidest thing this generation has come up with. That and cancel culture. What a bunch of sensitive Nancy we have in our world today. I understand some people's feelings may get hurt by people with strong words or anything that doesn't agree with their opinions, but I'm so sick of people always apologizing to someone. Say what you want to say, own your words and actions. Brantley Gilbert said it best, ask forgiveness before I ask permission. My opinion, my words are my thoughts and beliefs. I'm going to say them and if you don't agree with me, well you are entitled to your opinion. That doesn't mean we are enemies or that we can't agree on other things. I'm surely not apologizing for having and stating my own opinions. If something I say or do is proven to be wrong or hurtful I will ask for forgiveness or apologize. But just because our opinions differ, that doesn't mean I'm going to back down or change my stance just so you will quit crying and playing the victim. This world needs to either grow a pair or use the ones that their wives, girlfriends, or the sensitive nancy have in their pockets. The world is being spayed and neutered by this woke & cancel culture bull****.

So… y’all tossing’ them back during the Super Bowl? Hahahahahahaha.
My favorite Brantley Gilbert verse is this gem, “slap a barn on a farm with a white fence and don't forget to give the good Lord his 10%”. Kid’s a poet - like Cohen or Yeats or Uncle Walt without the emotional accuracy and the ability to recognize and use a proper metaphor. But, that’s like, just my opinion man. Don’t cancel me. Who else has a High Life dissertation for the group? In keeping with the most recent posts, I’ll leave you all with a joke… I want to keep these good times rollin’… How do boomers change a lightbulb? They don’t — they just keep talking about how great the old one was. Ha! Last edited by pauwoo; 02-13-2023 at 12:01 AM. |

oh and there's no such thing as cancel culture. No matter how much you want to cry about it, which is ironic given you're rant. |

Not crying about it. Just said it is a stupid concept. Like I said no worries on an opinion that differs from mine. Too much crying already going on in the world as is.

Perhaps I should not worry so much about the fact that there won't be a Japanese league in my save...even if it is the second best league talent-wise globally. Perhaps I will simply "cancel" any mention of Japan from my saves...in fact, I encourage others to do the same. So, that means no Japanese leagues, no Japanese players, no Japanese anything.
I know it will never make a difference, but hopefully maybe someday the people responsible for this will understand that all people here wanted was a more immersive baseball world, and may have actually learned more about Japanese baseball culture and leagues, as I know I did. If this is the way they want to play it however, I can (in a very small way) do the same. If they don't want real-world Japanese leagues in OOTP, then maybe I don't want anything Japanese in my leagues either! (as it pertains to baseball) |
