Copying Custom Views (From Either Old PC or Old OOTP Version to New)

new desktop, moved everything else - but for some reason my extensively created over multiple versions custom views are not in my new game

I thought in the past I was able to export\import those - but I cant seem to find that option now

anyone know an easy way to get these into my new PC without having to recreate from scratch

Copy your entire Tables folder over from the old PC.

Then on the old PC, open OOTP. On the opening game screen select "Settings".

Then click on the Troubleshooting Tab, then "Open folder containing file 'app.cfg' & 'engine.cfg'

When that folder opens, there will be a 'user.dat" file. Copy that over to the new computer. Same process on the new machine, have to go and open the cfg folder and put your user.dat file in there, replacing the current one. "make a copy of the tables folder and user.dat file before replacing them)

That's it, all your views will be on the new computer.

as always the OOTP community continues to be one of the best parts of the game. someone here always knows the answer, sometimes even me.

What does user.dat do exactly? In the past I've just copied a few select files from the tables folder and that's all. What have I been missing out on without copying user.dat?

Pretty sure it's your custom pages, such as when you set your team page up or other pages that are customizable. Tables cover all your custom stat views.

Hopefully Matt will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it covers your Manager's Office, Team Page (front page, scouting tab, front office, etc). Well, as you said, any and all screens that are customizable, IE screens that have the "screen setup" option are covered by the user.dat.

Also if you edit and build custom stat views on the player card that it is covered by the user.dat. Unlike your "non-player card other views" IE "normal" views that are covered in the tables.

just responding to my own thread from two years ago because this still works the same way and is a massive time saver if you like me have spent a lot of time and effort getting your views "just right"

the message as always no game has as much flexibility and customization as OOTP and the community and its consistent helping of other members is also what makes OOTP such a one of a kind game

PS - if a mod wanted to copy this into the 25 general discussions that would be helpful

Just a clarification please guys - if we're just talking the new v25 on the same computer as v24 is, do you just have to do the second part of Bluenoser's original process to move your custom views from 24 to 25?

Many thanks

You need to do the full process, Tables Folder and user.dat.

It would be great if this was built into the game. Allowing us to import views from previous versions.

To my consternation, I managed to wipe out my bookmarks just now. Something about inadvertently starting the create new game process within the existing game, I think. So I went to look for user.dat and found that it had already been overwritten.

I am now building new set of bookmarks and the next thing to do with user.dat will be to BACK IT UP.

FWIW, on my laptop the file is located at:

C:\Users\bruce\AppData\Roaming\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 25\config

Hmmm. That makes for three locations of vital files if you play OOTP through Steam: steamapps, documents, and appdata. Keeping track of everything is an experience with this game.

Anyone know how to import stat row settings? Or do those have to be manually set year to year? I.e., wanting to see FIP when you click on pitcher without going to the Pitching Stats tab, wRC without going on to Batting Stats, etc.

Any custom views you have for player stats rows also transfer with custom views.

Same process as above, copy tables and user.dat over from 24.

You probably have multiple data folders. Find the correct one via these instructions.

edit: If you're on Steam, you have to click "open saved games location" and then go up a level, and tables is there.
