Yeah i read about that in a few places. But i couldnt find out if they removed it from people's saved games like OOTP is doing. But also, you can get custom J league db's for FM so you can play it. Seems strange they can do that. Hell, they even have them on their forums.

I don’t know if they invaded saves when Konami went after them either. Hopefully this was a one time deal with OOTP and won’t apply for people updating their 23 league into 24 but it’s very early to even talk about that. As for mods that bring it back in, we’ll have to see, although there were always mods created to bring in the real life MLB before OOTP acquired that license so my first guess would be “yes” to those.

Nobody cares about Japanese soccer..it’s a non-factor on the world stage. Japanese baseball is a much different story.

Why would anyone mod it when it’s going to be scrambled?? It’s the customization aspect that the league in question doesn’t like.

FM does not currently have women’s soccer…and even if they get it, it’s still not as big of a deal.

They’re very much working on adding it; it just hasn’t gotten there yet because it’s kind of a huge rollout and they want to get it right. I would imagine, though, that scouts not being able to access Japanese players even privately will have a bigger impact on the game.

Of course it won’t be as big because women’s soccer isn’t as big as men’s soccer is. FM still had to do arguably more than OOTP has regarding Japanese leagues and just because Japanese baseball is a bigger deal than Japanese soccer doesn’t change that.

Plenty of people care about Japanese soccer.

For example, take the English-language Wikipedia page views ever since April 1, 2022, of the 2022 J1 League season and the 2022 ****** Professional Baseball season. (The English-language pages should provide more of a view of worldwide interest, not within-Japan interest.) That soccer page: 182,634. That baseball page: 32,249.

I know comparing Wikipedia page views is not an exact science, but those figures are vastly different.

ETA: Also, the Twitter account for that soccer league has 904,000 followers while the one for the corresponding baseball competition has 731,000 followers. Using Twitter followers to determine popularity is not an exact science, for sure, but it's clear that lots of people care about Japanese soccer.

I'm not sure any comparisons between Japanese soccer in FM and Japanese baseball in OOTP are all that relevant to the current situation. For me, the relevant question isn't, "Would it be nice for Japanese baseball to be featured in OOTP?" That one has a pretty obvious answer: yes, it would be nice.

The relevant question is instead, "Why would a company consider deliberately introducing a bug that corrupts players' saves to be the best way out of a situation they backed themselves into by selling Japanese baseball data without a license?" Unless FM also went the deliberate bug route, there's not much to be learned by comparing the two.

It all depends on what the scramble filters are looking for. The more tests we run, the sooner we'll figure out what triggers a scramble

All I can say at this time is that I will still buy OOTP 24 from the store but will not update it and put my NpeeB league back in. I regretted buying the Steam version anyway and had I bought the store version I would have stayed on the pre-change version. I barely play PT anyway on 23. On 22 I had 3 PT leagues and played tournaments often. I have not touched a tournament on 23.


To me, Com2Us declared war on its users. I don't think Markus would have done this before Com came into the picture.

People have already posted what non-player data it scrambles: Any league with the term "Nippon" in it, as well as any official [league redacted] full team names that are used.

Ah reading this brings back memories. Back when the board's OT section was busy and every action by Markus was analyzed with a fine toothed comb, with the masses had their pitchforks at the ready. When red cards were tossed out like candy and so many people screamed at clouds it could make a Gregorian choir blush. Where threads would get bloated, locked, new threads to continue to beat said horse, they'd be locked, and then those responsible would be sacked.

Ok the last one never happened.
