Question for Red Sox Fans Only

It has been a few days since your team has lost Boegarts. The media keeps painting a picture of the Boston faithful outside of Fenway park with pitchforks as a result. But is that actually true? I don’t live in that region, but what I am seeing from thoughtful Red Sox fans is that the price was simply too steep to keep him, so they are giving the front office a pass. Is the “outrage” a simple case of media hype? Or are you pissed that you Team seems rudderless, and Boegarts just another example?

Team is rudderless. He wanted to stay but we low-balled him in Spring Training just as we did Lester. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone, and while the computer may have said those players are only worth $X, the market determines the price. Not the computer. Neither of those players should have gotten to free agency.

As a Boston fan that still hurts when he thinks of Lynn getting traded to the Angels and Fisk going to the White Sox, understand that we sometimes just the need for our team to keep "that" player. That Yaz or Pedroia or 'Tek or Big Papi that is the guy your kid can root for their entire youth. I know on the spreadsheet, players are - like in OOTP - potential stats wrapped in a name... but in real life they are not nearly as fungible. And if we are paying the highest prices in the majors and you expect us to pay for NESN, etc... stop pretending this approach is going to work in Boston. It's not. The value of a Betts, or Bogarts, or Devers remaining is worth far more than any free agent dollar that could be spent. You don't think Cashman gets that about ensuring Judge isn't a Giant. Of course, he does. We don't.
