I really think there is a lot of improvement in the 3D animations. Games feel more like a real baseball game to me and that's awesome.
The 3D aspect has come such a long way since those pawns a few years back. What I love is that you cannot always predict the outcome once a ball is put in play. This was there to a certain extent last year, but has much improved due to there being more animations for different situations. Finally I see a shortstop throw to first and the runner just beating out the throw, very nice! There are some bugs...most notably runners disappearing through walls in the outfield but this will probably be ironed out at some point. Hopefully animations will be further improved and build upon in future patches during OOTP23's lifecycle. |

How do you get names & uniform numbers to appear on the backs of jerseys? The first time I saw this was playing PT. How can I do it?

You don't, at least not yet. Silvam14 created a uniform mod that adds the number 14 and the last name Silvam to all the jerseys. I use that because some number / letter marking is better than none. I suspect this would be part of a future release if/when it happens (I'd guess that the changes they made to unis to make them fit around the in-game 3D models instead of Facegen was considered a prerequisite for making any sort of larger changes regarding the unis).

Requested League Rule
Now with the DH forced (ugh) to both leagues, there is yet another element of strategy removed from the sport of baseball. I hold out some small hope that the proposal to lose your DH when your starting pitcher is pulled will gain traction. It would also help put a bit more emphasis on lengthening starter time (hopefully reducing some of the reliever parade, put a bit more emphasis on pitching versus just hard throwing, etc.)
Request: can we have this as an optional league rule? Either the original, remove when the pitcher is out, or the new version which requires a starter to go at least 5 innings? I of course prefer the original, which means some strategy & pinch hitting, maybe even some double switches again! Ah yes, the strategy and tough decisions of whether or not to PH a guy with an OPS of .750 for a guy whose OPS starts with a 2. Clearly that is the tactical strategy we need to go back to - so much more meaningful and nuanced than having to decide when to bring in a better bat (with worse glove) or better glove with worse bat, now that your bench players come into play in situations that don't involve brainless decisions of having the 9th spot in the lineup gain an extra 500 OPS points.

Or you can simply switch off the DH in OOTP and continue to ponder those “brainless” decisions whether to remove a tiring stud SP for one of a handful of PH and hand the game over to your shaky bullpen. Long live the double switch!!
