Gold League

The Los Angeles Nighthawks romped home with a sweep of Mevagissey to take a well deserved crown!

In PT, there were varied fortunes as the teams scrapped it out over the final month. North Bay fell away, and Bushwood's hopes died in their last 3 games. Greenland hung in there to win their division, and Waxhaw won their game 163, but Claptown lost theirs. (There were 5 teams tied on 82-80, but only 4 played in the eliminators. Anyone know why that might be?) LA comfortably topped the league, but Mevagissey were left in no-man's-land, and I think Holy City may have thrown the towel in!

Good luck in the playoffs. LA should be a solid bet, and it's good that the Seals and Wayverns can't both lose the wildcard!

Silver

It turns out Shinbone needed that sweep yesterday to capture the title as Columbia dropped only one of its nine games yesterday but still ended up .001 behind the Stars.

Shinbone (Wildcard) and Coney Island (Division winner) will represent OL in the playoffs while Daytona Beach will be heading back to Bronze next week.

Bronze

The Baltimore Barons swept through September and into October, posting a 6-0 record, to capture their second Bronze and third overall Our League crown. In PT play, the Barons, SaukCentre, and Brooklyn gabbed wild card berths. Colorado Springs is headed back to iron.

How Did I Not Notice?

Anyone who's been around Our League knows how, with each version, I have chased a Willie Mays card for my teams, even using a 42-year-old Mays as part of my centerfield platoon (he killed lefties) for nearly half of PT 19 with the Port Ruppert Mundys. Willie is my favorite of all players, and the best all around player ever (Don't bother to argue it. If you don't know that, you never saw him play when you were elementary school age.). Given that, I suppose it is a measure of my fallen interest in (and frustration with) PT 23 that I didn't even notice there was a Mays card in this version. Well, for only a little over 68,000 PP, my oversight has been corrected. All is now right with the Mundys. Maybe now I'll check on Port Ruppert twice a week.

Same.

Have to say though, you've put together a pretty nice team already. I've been quite jealous of some of your pulls!

Also, I assumed that you had clocked Mevagissey's Mays waay back (when my packs teams used to pull good cards...).

Diamond league:

The battle between Aomori and Mount Hawke lived up to the hype as they went back and forth in their 19 games, leaving it until the final series to determine the outcome. In the end, Mount Hawke claimed the OL crown, taking the series 10 games to 9

Aomori will be the lone OL rep in the playoffs, while Waffletown will mercifully get to return to Gold

Hats off to Aomori, they've been superb again this week. Not sure how Mount Hawke pulled that one off 'cause they've been stinky this week.

Quinta Fiasco -OL are moving to Iron next week. I think this team will settle in Iron or Bronze but so far has moved up each week.

The bad news is this team is OOTP Go only so I cannot create a friend list. Someone else could but I really do not want to bother anyone else to do this weekly or even monthly. So if you have a spare friend spot in Iron I would appreciate you friending me--it may not get me into an OL league but it is the best I can do on my own. I will see if this team gets into OL for the next two weeks but after that I will likely give up trying to be OL (and leave you alone!). Good luck to all the OL playoff teams.

Well my Warriors flamed out and got swept in the finals, their reward a trip to Gold before returning to Silver.

Between vacation and work travel I wont be able to contribute the next 3 or 4 weeks. While not required if y'all can keep an eye out and help with stats.....

I like that you said "should" be a solid bet because you know the game loves making teams with over 100 wins lose in the first round they play in. That happened yet again with the Nighthawks. First round bye to no promotion. If I had only won 90, I might have had a chance..

Would have been great to have the Nighthawks back in Diamond for another crack at some better RNG. Maybe next week, eh

Bronze and Silver

Here are the 2038 line ups. Also a call out for volunteers to do the standings. Any takers?
