Agreed. Although I actually love the drama being created. I never found myself looking at "Join date" and "Posts" all that much until this thread started.

I had been holding out hope for GO to launch before my vacation. I’m leaving tomorrow afternoon so I am going to miss the Diamond Pack login bonus by about four hours and will be away from my team for a little over a week (unless GO is launched during my trip).

I never said we've been waiting for years for OOTP GO 23, but that fans of the mobile game have felt ignored for years. MLB Manager had links to iOOTP in it. There was no forum for MLB Manager for a long time after it was released. And if you search through the forums you'll see MANY questions related to the mobile game that are completely ignored. I've been a loyal customer for years and will continue to be, but I see a very stark contrast in how information is shared about the desktop game vs. the mobile game. That's something I've never understood, as I see the mobile game as a huge untapped market for them. |

I can't speak for everyone, but I joined specifically to discuss the release of OOTP GO 23 . Have been reading the forum on and off for years.

It is impossible to figure out the sales numbers but the app itself is free. Just because I buy the entire historic bundle I can't assume everyone does. Some may just buy individual seasons or a decade, the current season or buy nothing and just play fictional. The computer version will always and should take precedent over the app. I am sure there are $ in the app or they would be misplacing their resources. I would like to know the age demographic of those who downloaded Go whether they made an in app purchase or not. That might give a hint to the market size for the game. The app also works as an introduction to PT if they don't own the DT version, start with the app, and then buy the desktop version. So its part mobile game and part gateway drug to the desktop. I can assume that was part of the long range plan when they stopped MLB Manager. I will agree responses are severely lacking in tech support. I posted something quite a long time ago that never got a response (I would take "I don't know" as answer because it's better than no answer). That is for sure an area that needs improvement. I still think saying they are working on it and will report back when they have more to say (or whatever the exact wording was) is pretty self explanatory ie we are in Beta test now, is the devs doing exactly what they said they were going to do. |

I’m sure that the game plan was to launch OOTPGo much earlier. However, their main priority is regular OOTP and apparently Go is a product that they can pull team members off of. They’re currently testing it. If they could deliver a non-buggy product today then they would but the only way you deliver a non-buggy product is to have your QA team test it and confirm there aren’t at least massive, game breaking bugs. It’ll hit public beta next and then only after it passes that stage will it hit gold. At that, I’ll predict right now that it’ll have some big old bugs in it because the developers feel the pressure of being pretty far behind on a product they wanted to deliver earlier. What I hope doesn’t happen is that it’s a buggy mess a la Cyberpunk 2077, which is way worse than if it comes out in September or something. And you, of course, don’t want that either but you won’t argue that because it goes against your philosophy of knowing more about how software development works than people who actually do this crap for a living. So if it comes out in, say, 2 weeks and is super buggy, you’ll just whinge about how True Software doesn’t ever miss deadlines and has no bugs or something dumb.

I hope your prediction is wrong, Syd. Otherwise, I think you're right on target.

I think this has gone a bit off the rails now...
I don't think anyone wants a buggy, broken game. But at the same time, they changed it to a yearly release, then it's delayed, now it's in beta in July, and there's been little communication. Nobody's expecting the team to come here and tell us everything, but surely they have a rep or someone who can relay information. We're all looking for the same thing: a new launch to play. People are getting frustrated, but that should be expected. Let's not attack people for coming on here and being frustrated. Again, if this was any other yearly release sports game, there would be far more backlash. And it doesn't help when you don't have someone at least doing damage control from a PR perspective. I'm going to download the game regardless of when it comes out. I'm sure the people on here will. I've been checking daily and I understand the issues. But this is a bad look and the frustration you're seeing is just a tip of the iceberg. Lot of others won't bother going on here. A lot will see OOTP Go now off of the app stores and think "oh I guess they're not doing it anymore" and won't bother looking. There's others that won't bother playing again. The damage control here has been bad. So let's not attack each other and please understand where the frustration is coming from |

How can it be a buggy, broken game when they could just release last year's version rebranded as 23? What earth shaking changes were made between 22 and 23 (not counting PT)? Turn PT off until PT23 is ready.

This thread needs to stay focused.

To be clear: 1. Why has OOTP decided to move GO to a yearly release model? 2. Has OOTP figured out how to migrate IAP to the new 23 release? 3. If OOTP has not migrated IAP from GO to 23 will we be given a refund? 4. Will new IAP carry over from OOTP 23 to 24, 25, etc.? I bought GO's IAP this spring shortly before 23's release because I was told it would be continually updated. Not hearing back here is concerning. Last edited by analgesic; 07-09-2022 at 02:49 PM. |

Vanity Project
Hard to believe there is a “team” of developers at work on OOTP GO. At this point it seems like a vanity project, when it’s ready, it’s ready, as if it is art. Also, unfortunately there is no competition. Too bad StratOMatic never went IOS.

Just a couple questions.
It is my understanding that OOTP23 is using a new game engine. Does OOTP Go use the same game engine??? Desktop version MacBook Pro 14. OOTP 22 stadium views were great but OOTP 23 on my MacBook Pro 14 the stadium views are slightly out of focus. Hopefully OOTP Go stadium views are as good as last years!! |

OOTP GO 23 is built on the same game engine as the desktop game. I don't have any info regarding the stadium views |

I just don't understand why its so difficult for them to give us even a minor update. Something like, "Hey guys, sorry things have run off schedule a little, we've been in the beta stage for x amount of time and there are big bugs to work through, and we want to put out the best product possible!" It's basic customer service. We have the right to be pissed about a game that was initially only going to be updated. But now its being released again without IAPs coming over AND almost a month passed the tentative spring release time we were given.
