Still no robust schedule generator

After 23 iterations of this game and lots of neat features built in, why is there still not a comprehensive schedule generator built into the game? I get that there are a lot of mods available, and thanks to users like gmo I've been able to find a lot of workable schedules for my fictional league. However, I want to be able to make some modifications to the ones that exist.

Can this be on the feature list for upcoming versions?

Otherwise, can anyone suggest what else they use? I've been thinking about trying to design something in Excel, but I think it's going to take a lot of time and energy.

if you make changes in game, you can export that schedule... then, add it to your "schedule" directory if you want to.

manual has info on how the name of your schedule files impact how they are used or to automatically load a set to rotate through etc etc... easy to get it working like clockwork.

Because it is difficult to program.

Yeah, schedules are lowkey harder to create than they look. There's a reason why MLB had a couple hand-curate them for years and now pays pretty good money to have a computer algorithm figure it out. TBH it's one of the main reasons why I play with real-life historical league setups even though I use all fictional players.

From the comments, it looks like people get some good use out of it. However, it looks like installing on a Mac is a bit more cumbersome, which is what I use.

Well, that's a little bit different because they're also scheduling around real-life events like concerts.

I'm looking for something where you can put in the criteria, hit a button, and you're good to go.

What are the programs that posters like gmo would use to fill requests?

I would like to be able to customize series sizes up to 6 games, and then be able to request one specific day a week off for all teams in any given league.

So as an example, if you wanted to replicate AAA schedules, you could have a series begin on Tuesday, run 6 games, and then have the entire league off Mondays.

In the FCL, ACL & DSL, you could have two game series' and then ensure all teams are off on Wednesdays.

You het the picture...I don't think this should be too difficult to program, provided you have enough even numbered teams in the league....so perhaps it won't be able to use this with odd numbers of teams (unless some teams rotate not having games)

I've been wishing for this for years. Obviously, schedules can be incredibly complex. However, if I have a league of 10 teams, and I want them to play 162 games with zero off days or an off day after every 6th game, that should be easy.

It's a hard problem but after all this time it shouldn't be in as bad a spot as it is. If you click the "balanced schedule" checkbox on the default MLB setup it gives you a garbage schedule where the teams don't even play the same number of games. There's no excuse for that. If you can't figure out how to generate balanced schedules, don't provide the option. It's a terrible project management failure to leave landmine "features" that don't work and break your game if you try to use them scattered throughout your game.

This, I wanted a 150 game round robin for a 16 team P/R and it just scheduled a bunch of 3 game series.I've found that a realistic schedule really helps with immersion.

Well, if they can create 23 versions of a game, and fans have created their own generator, perhaps they can somehow manage the task themselves. As an avid OOTP player it's a feature I wish was included.

They could probably sell it as an expansion pack. I'd pay for a robust schedule generator.

Back to one of my original questions. What program was gmo and others using to create the plethora of schedules we do have?

I'd pay as well. The flexibility it would bring to the game would be worth it. I also wish better logos for fictional leagues were in the game.
