Does OOTP offer upgrade options from previous versions? Search fields both here and Google don't offer answers.

I would say yes it's worth it, and if you are a Steam buyer you can get OOTP23 and FHM8 in a bundle for $17.99 right now. That is a steal to me, I already have OOTP23 but I am considering FHM8 alone at that price.

$40 is a great night out for two at a steak house and drinks.
$40 is also at least 6 months of baseball enjoyment. Apples and Oranges. |

Can you better articulate what you mean? Do you mean a roster upgrade to OOTP22 for this season? If that is what is meant, no. The next edition of the game brings the next season and it's rookies, etc. You can play the 2021 season to 2022 and beyond in OOTP22 but "roster revamps" as separate adds-ons are not a thing. Not sure what else is meant by "upgrades". Each edition of the game brings upgrades and each patch as well...

I’m guessing they mean an upgrade discount. Which, also no, that’s not a thing.

I'd love to get OOTP 23 but since I only play fictional games there doesn't seem to much added other than a graphical update which is really nice. I was really hoping for a lot more added to stadium creator. I might change my mind or wait for it to go on sale. Thank you everyone. |

I think this just increases the value of OOTP doesn’t it? I mean I took my two boys through the drive thru at Mickey D’s and spent $37.95 for three meals. I would gladly forgo that garbage food for the year-long enjoyment I get from OOTP. just me though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I mentioned this earlier, but besides OOTP, I put many hours into Football Manager, but my last purchase of that game was FM16. It scratches my itch for the football(soccer) genre, and I just never got excited by the versions after 16, so never bought them. I'm wondering now if that's where I'm at with OOTP? Will OOTP22 suffice for this year, and carry over till OOTP24? For the first time with this game, I could see that happening. I've been a loyal customer every year since OOTP4, so the real question for the OOTP team or for you, who buy every year no matter what, and comically pre-ordered this year when not knowing what you're even getting, what does OOTP need to bring to the table, that will get me(or people who feel similar) excited about making that purchase. It's not about any of us "being cheap." It's about some of us who take a step back, look at what's being offered(finally), and see if the enjoyment of 23 will be anymore than it is with 22. Retired now, but this past weekend I took some very loyal, now former clients out to dinner, spent about 2K and trying a new restaurant, felt the food and atmosphere was fine, not great. But with that being said, not once did I sit there and think, "Oh yeah, paying $40 for OOTP23 really is worth it. Last edited by progen; 05-15-2022 at 05:16 PM. |

I'm continually amazed by the comments of people who frequent this forum and act like there was no way to know what was coming in the game before the release, or before it was purchased. I had a VERY clear understanding of the many significant changes and upgrades before the game was available, then on the day the beta launched (still before the game release date) even more information was given that chronicled even MORE changes and upgrades to the game.
If people don't want to buy OOTP23 and keep playing 22, that's a valid choice. But it's odd to me to frame it as being unsure what changes there are, or that a game you play for ( presumably conservatively) 100 hours in a year isn't worth $40. |

It all depends on your real life situation. Obviously. If you're a working adult with an adequate paycheck rolling in - yeah, it's worth it. There are some nice new features as someone listed in a previous post. Visually the game looks sharper this year IMO.
But if you're paycheck to paycheck and money is tight, if you're happy with 22 and needing updated rosters isn't big for you than you'd be a fool to buy 23. None of us know your situation in life, so it's a tough question to answer. If it will cause you to be late on your rent and the kids are gonna miss a meal over it, don't buy the game. You already said you like 22. If life is decent for you right now, then yeah for $40 it's a real good value given the amount of time you can invest in it. |

$40 is a terrible night out for two at a steak house - because it sounds like to me that you're gonna come up a solid $150 short on the bill and you're date is going to have to front the rest and never talk to you again haha. But to the OP.... HRBaker's comment should tell you the game IS worth it, because he's been sooooooo invested in OOTP that he doesn't even know what year it is anymore. ![]()

+1 for buying the game! If for nothing else, to support the developers and incentivize them to continue putting in the effort!

That’s cool if you don’t want to pay because you feel they haven’t sold you on the new version. You mention FM and how you still play 16 to scratch the itch. Well, I would venture to guess that a lot of people here don’t want to do that and look forward to the new version of OOTP every year as an event not even thinking twice about it. I know it is for me. To each their own. I certainly respect your opinion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For Heaven's sake, do we have to argue where I eat for $40??? The point is OOTP IS NOT EXPENSIVE and provides MONTHS of enjoyment for 40 bucks.
If I somehow insulted someone for not being totally accurate and should have said $100 it was unintentional and meant to express a POINT - not be a line item on my Income Tax return. Last edited by HRBaker; 05-17-2022 at 10:22 AM. |
