Bauer gets 2 year suspension

I'm not saying he's innocent or guilty...

Another shining example of the Manfred era.

We all know he's being punished for calling out the league looking the other way about pitchers and using sticky substances.

Yeah, this one stinks a little bit. Seems personal.

LA DA says there's no case, but MLB says the allegations are enough to suspend him for 2 years? Yep, sounds personal to me too.

I am not going to comment on his guilt or innocence. But that is a complicated case.
Police said they saw him choke his wife last spring. But after viewing the bodycam footage, prosecutors dropped the felony charge because they could not make the case.
So reading between the lines, the police essentially lied on their report.
The prosecutor shelved the case and it was dropped on April 28th of this year.

I also read a 3rd women has come forward as well. I am not going to cave to any conspiracy theory that everyone has it out for him. I do believe MLB has more information and is aware more about this case than we are and that is more likely the reason for the suspension.

Despite my great disdain for Manfred, I do believe that this is a bad dude that simply needs to be removed from the game and that MLB knows much more than we do about the specifics with or without a formal criminal charge that can be proved 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. Yeah, it's he said, she said but she says he choked her and punched her in the face and genitals without consent. He said it was consensual. Sorry folks, I am not buying the 'he said' portion of this, and to those of you calling this a case of 'rough sex' - please stop. She's lying or he's a monster.

I will of course change my mind if evidence to the contrary ever comes to light.

We may 'know' a lot more when we see how aggressive the Union is in defending him.

The DA: Nah, I really ain't got nothing.

"Double standard" is perhaps not the correct term. MLB HQ is full of **** though.

And I doubt MLB really has anything in regards to this lady's case or any other, because if they had, and Bauer keeps appealing, things could be revealed one way or another that might lead to another round of criminal trial proceedings.

Baseball's been doing that since forever. "Regardless of the verdict of juries..." and so forth.

This is what Bauer himself said about the incident.

If you want to be disgusted that he's into rough sex, fair enough, I find it disturbing too. But I also don't think we should assume anything criminal past what someone has freely admitted to.

Regardless of whether it's true or not, he stinks worse than anything imaginable and MLB wants nothing to do with him. If he was quiet like others, he might have been able to come back. But that's not who he is, his career is over.

I have heard his side. I repeat, she's a liar or he is a monster and I'll give the benefit of the doubt to her and what MLB knows that we don't. There just isn't a lot of middle ground here. Let's see how aggressive the union is on his behalf.

Let's be honest, it's been slowly dying since they put a guy that owned a car rental company in charge. It's just switched from alcohol to heroin.

All league's do this. They don't have to care about the legal system, and I don't know why people continue to think they do. They come to their own conclusion and punish accordingly.

Agreed. Most employers are the same way. Even if I was not guilty of a crime, my employers would let me go if I embarrassed them or my name carried a bad reputation with it.

MLB is not Bauer's employer though.

This is why I think this is personal. Not personal to Manfred, but to the league. He made the league look bad in many instances and therefore they don't want to deal with him. Even if the league has more info that the general public is unaware of, I don't think a 2-year suspension is justifiable based on the evidence alone. I think his suspension is that long because, between the actions he's been accused of and because of how he's behaved since the accusations have come out, he hasn't behaved like a good MLB employee according to MLB standards.
