Dark design question
Hey,
this post might be stupid or unnecessary to most but here we go. Since I suffer from a degenerative eye disease I can only play/enjoy games that my eyes can actually kinda process. in the past I always loved playing ootp because of it's simple nature and design. I always had it in the dark design cause my eyes won't handle to much brightness. So this year it looks like the backgrounds for texts (standings, messages) have been made lighter which makes the game very hard for me to play. Is there a way to make this darker like in older versions? (opened 21 again and in that version it was easier for me to see) thank you in advance for an answer |

Check and make sure you have this set to "no, optimize readability"

thanks for your reply
I do have that set on "no" though and it seems to make no difference |

We must have posted about this simultaneously. I am experiencing the same thing with NO chosen for semi-transparent background and also getting what you are. I'm hoping it's another setting or a bug, not a design change. Will advise if I get an answer.

Something changed with the skin for sure. Here's a comparison between 22 and 23, Dark Skin with optimized readability set.

Maybe the game or a mod can add a dark / high contrast setting for this, similar to the same skin in Visual Studio. I personally like the alternate line shading, even though that does have the effect of making the entire screen brighter.

I've also noticed a lot of skin changes that I do not like at all. Hopefully we will get some updates, but I don't remember skin changes after release in the past.

Skins TBH feel a bit locked behind stuff to me. I know it's possible to create your own but all that's a bit above me. I'd love if there was, like, a CSS file we could edit but there too we'd need to have some kind of a guide as to what touches what, or else (like the Draft Day Football CSS) it's a bit useless...

I'm not really sure what they were going for this year. Shades and colors don't even seem to match up. Background seems to be blue regardless, some menu backgrounds get the alternate line shading while others are just solid, "dark" is somehow a very light grey. Game settings not doing the same things as past years. Feels incomplete, which is a real shame considering all the extra time they had to work on this version. If I didn't really like the AI changes I'd probably keep playing 22.

Has there been any change to this in recent patches?
