Who's Subbing My Players?

Why is the OOTP22 A.I. substituting bad players in for my good players in the 6th inning when I'm losing?!? I've tried to put myself in charge of substitutions, but quickly got a message that my lineup was short or something like that, took me to the substitution screen -- and dumped me there without instructions of what to do to get the game rolling again.
I'd sure like to keep the AI coaches from prematurely subbing players in for my stars. But don't know how to do it. PS: This is my first post on the forum, so I know it's a dumb question.

When you go into the Manager Settings screen (from clicking on your manager name), on the lower right does it say Computer AI or your manager name for "Setting Lineups..."?

You can also adjust this when you watch/manage a game by selecting "Human Control" where it says Substitutions on your team's side of the screen, but that's only for that one game.

In Manager Options, almost all of the selections are listed with my manager name, including "Setting Lineups & Depth Charts." And still some AI is subbing my players...

Is it defensive subs? How are the settings regarding PH/PR? Both of these options could be affecting things.

Just to confirm, are you talking about the colour of the dots on the bottom right part of the "Overall Strategy" tab screen among the team screens?

Oh! I think I know. Re-reading the OP it sounds like there was an injury and that's why it bumped you out asking you to make a substitution.

This sounds like there was an injury or ejection.

There was no injury. I think I've figured it out. I thought I'd put myself as the one to do Substitutions, but apparently it didn't take, or reverted somehow to having one of the coaches handle the subbing. So when I made sure I'd listed myself for doing the subbing, there were no more phantom substitutions, as now game after game, my name continued to show as the designated one to handle substitutions.
