Ticket Prices

How much of an impact do they have when considering fan interest? For small market teams that are rebuilding would it be beneficial to lower prices while payroll is low and increase when the team is ready to spend money?

Just wondering what kind of impact they have in the actual game if at all?

Thanks!

Yeah I think that's about right. Lower prices can help your attendance, but maybe lower revenue (trying to find the balance, maybe). If you're really good in a big market you can probably raise to what you like

It does affect the financials, though probably not in a game-changing way.

I know it would affect the money you can spend and what you bring in. Just brainstorming on if lowering prices while my team sucks would help up attendance. The owner sometimes bitches about getting attendance up.

You will sell more tickets if they are lower. I find that the attendance owner goal is one of the easiest ones to fulfill for that reason. I just slash the ticket prices.

Y'all are hitting on one of the major flaws in the OOTP econic system as it overlaps with 'game' play in the form of owner goals.

Here is the issue: the owner never asks you to increase revenue (as a normal owner would). He asks you to increase attendance only. As several have pointed out you can make an attendance increase by slashing ticket price. This, however, likely drops your income from ticket sales, so in the incorrectly laid out world of OOTP economics, you have less to spend on players.

MLB teams focus on 'yield' that is, setting ticket prices to produce the best combo of price and purchase to 'yield' the most revenue.

Unfortunately, this reality is absent in OOTP

I personally just have the AI set ticket prices; too much micro for me. I agree that ideally the owners want profits, not just attendance; I will say that "I want 2 million butts in the seats" makes more sense when you look at it than "I want to break $150M in stadium revenue". Perhaps if owners began demanding higher (or lower!) attendance as you monkey with the ticket prices...

I'm with Syd. I've changed ticket prices once in all of the OOTP seasons I've played, and that was after the owner suggested it. (OK, why is this my decision and not yours anyway? Done, sir.)

There are also other revenue streams that are significant for teams that are not in OOTP: parking and food and beverage for example. Those two in particular can be massive for revenue if the stadium is full. That $10 beer you’re buying only costs the team $0.75. I’d love to see other revenue streams added in the future along with giveaway nights to help boost attendance for certain games.

I def agree with this. And certain stadiums offer didn’t type of foods that not everywhere has. I think this could be a good thing if it is able to be added. I really love running the entire organization so the more attention to detail the more exciting for me. If that makes sense

I mean... sure, but I also don't want to set hot dog prices.

I once slashed ticket prices (in the midst of the Depression years) because attendance was pathetic, and I wanted fannies in the stands. Attendance picked up immediately, and I honestly think it helped the guys on the field. And no, I cannot prove cause and effect. Humor me.
