Ah man, that flames/Sabres situation is disheartening. When I play the game I always do my best not to ‘scam’ the AI because it just kills the immersion for me but when the AI begins scamming itself it’s just frustrating. Do those saves get submitted for examination or is it an already known issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

While I don't know for sure, I suspect you're right that the current rivalry system is limited in scope. It certainly looks and 'feels' that way. That said, if there was a list of close geographical or even just divisional/conference teams maintained by the AI, (say something like the hidden list of teams a player with a NMC would be willing to waive for), then I think star player movement could be modeled far more realistically (e.g. more akin to real life).

Another weird goalie situation I forgot to mention (I've had issues with the way the game handles goalies for years, but this year it seems a lot worse).
I did the LA Kings historical challenge. In 1992-1993 I finally made it to the finals against the Flyers. Flyers have 2 goaltenders to start the finals - Ron Hextall (3.5 Stars) and Darren Puppa (2.5 Stars). Puppa gets the start. He must have more "hotness" so it is what it is...I'm not too worried about it, the difference in talent is not that huge. However, Puppa got hurt in the first game. So Flyers recalled John Blue, a 0.5 star goaltender. Guess who started the remainder of the Stanley Cup final ? Yeah, NOT Hextall. Despite Blue getting shelled. I won the challenge but I don't really feel like I deserved it. |

Penguins are $2m over the cap so put their entire defence on waivers, leaving themselves with a top 2 and then nothing!

I've seen things like that a lot during my current day save as well. It is my first time playing current day in 6 years or so. The Kraken would put 5-6 players on waivers every 3-4 days for a while. I don't think it was due to cap issues in this case, but I can't see a team putting that many players on waivers, that often in the season. Blackwell in particular got waived probably more than 8 times during the season. |

I will check out your Sens playthrough now! I was going to share something on this thread earlier that actually made me laugh....I shopped Gavrikov and took a 5th round pick for him from the Kings....the next day the Kings traded him to the Flames for a 4th rounder! I was amazed, the AI actually scammed ME! ha ha |

AI drafting/scouting problem?
This keep happening in every save. Im able to pick really good prospects in late rounds basically for free. This makes winning pretty easy since AI doesnt seem to be really good at evaluating potential. Most important aspect if you want to win in NHL is drafting (look at tampa). Maybe if AI would scout these players better it would make instalty harder to beat it.
The most egregious example is that #2 overall in mock goes #30 overall in draft (Aron Kiviharju). This is first time tho i see this happens to top 5 player in mock. Bigger issue is good 2nd/3rd round prospects drafted in late rounds. |

I bet Hap Holmes took a lot of flack for wearing a mask in 1918.

The black eye injury will list a player as unavailable, but shouldn't he be able to play through that?
