Creating A New Custom League
I want to create 2 new Custom Leagues.
1) Play the 1938 season & add 2 - 5 Negro League players to each of the historical 16 team rosters. Rosters set to 27 - 30 real players from the 1938 season per team. AL & NL with inter league play. Only real players, stats, teams & ballparks from the 1938 season. 2) Play the 1964 season & add 2 Nippon League players to each of the historical 20 team rosters.Rosters set to 27 real players from the 1964 season per team.AL & NL with inter league play. Only real players, stats, teams & ballparks from the 1964 season. I would greatly appreciate help in learning how to set the 2 leagues up. |

With both I'd start a new historical game in the year you want it set. That puts all of the structure in place. Make changes as you want such as increased roster size.
Then you'd need to decide which players you want to add and import them manually. Then either run a FA draft or manually allocate them to the teams. The game does not support interleague schedules. So you'd need to go to the mods forum and pick one out that would work. DL it and apply it as your schedule in the pre-season. You'll most likely have to redo this every year. Fairly straightforward, just need to set in stone the exact way you want it to work and go from there.

I set up a Historical League but didn't take all the steps you suggested. I will use your instructions as my guide.
Thanks ! Lou |

No problems at all.
The parks should load automatically with the game but they are only the basic ones. For added realism, I recommend silvam's historical uniforms which can be found HERE or there are a bunch of other options in that forum. Good luck!

The other thing I would recommend is to set up a test league of your 1938 idea, don't spend any time on logos & ballparks and stuff like that. Simply place the Negro League players on the MLB teams and then let the game run for a few seasons. The reason I suggest this is because you may find that Negro Leaguers do not perform to your expectations (as many other gamers seem to have found). If you also find this, then this will give you an opportunity to make some tweaks or other decisions, before you invest time in your league.

I've been using silvam14's ballparks for a while now. They are a huge upgrade.
The Negro League players may not have enough at bats or innings pitched for the AI to recognize them as full time stars. Probably no stats were kept for barn storming games . That's a shame,so many ex Negro League players excelled in the MLB. I will follow the instructions. I just don't understand what was meant by a tweak. I want to create these 2 leagues to a very high standard so this will be a big project for me. Thanks to luckymann & thehef . I greatly appreciate your experience and input. "Tweak" could mean that you might need to manually adjust ratings for Negro Leaguers so they perform as you expect. Or it could mean that you "tweak" your plans by including fewer Negro Leaguers (maybe only the ones who perform well enough to your expectations).
Good luck and report back! |

Check out my Bucs save, in which I have integrated the league in 1909 and imported players each year since. Even after I have basically edited these players from the ground up using a host of sources, I am still having massive problems that are unresolved and under investigation, which I believe are involved with my methodology of cloning them so as to get around recalc. Also, my Eclipse League is a full RD save that excludes all white players. This has recalc off, just using dev and seems to be working better, but again that is only after hours upon hours of manually curating NeL players. I have explained my process in some detail here, which might be worth a read. So there is really one clearly defined three-way choice here: either you simply import the NeLers and just take what you get or do what I have done and heavily curate them or you just exclude them altogether. This will obviously depend on how badly you want this setup to work. Feel free to hit me up for more specific info, happy to help in any way I can.

Seamheads "WAR", single season ratings (1936,37,38 ect) is my #1 choice to rate players for a draft so I love what your doing in your Eclipse League.
At least what I can understand of it. Hope I word this right. Is there a easier & faster way of adding Negro League players that simulates the players more accurately ? Last edited by LouisSVillano; 01-25-2022 at 12:08 AM. |

Were you planning on using recalc? If so, see THIS post.

I wasn't aware of all the problems.
I thought OOTP had fairly accurate ratings for the Negro League players. I will have to look at this more carefully, Hopefully OOTP can come up with Negro League players that we can add to seasons with more confidence. Thanks ! Lou |

The test league option seems to be the only way to go here.
I like single season stats. I've never tried to get so advanced into the game before. Would I replay the same season several times or just play several consecutive season ? |
