Silvam14's Historical Caps/Uniforms/Logos

Hey all!

I have been working on a project to update the historical logos, caps, and jerseys. For many years I have been using the great creations from Kunckler and Reds1 for my historical leagues. I wanted to update these and add many which I noticed were missing (mostly in the early 1901-1950's timeframe, but I decided to pretty much re-create every uniform and most of the caps and add the missing logos as well.

This has taken considerable time and is still a work in progress. I want to be as accurate as possible so I have been using sites such as the following

Chris Creamer's Sportslogos.net:
https://www.sportslogos.net/teams/li...all/MLB/logos/

Baseballhalloffame.org - Dressed to the nines resource
http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.o...e.htm#database

and an excellent site which details vitually every teams uniform/cap changes since 1901

https://mlbcollectors.com/LAAjerseys.php

For caps and uniforms that I didn't create, I am using the ones created by knuckler and reds1 and whoever else created them for the game (mostly caps)

Mind you, I have cleared out my jerseys and ballcaps folders and only have the files I have been working with. I found that the different file format used by OOTP ".oi" and the different year ranges in the files do much to screw up the auto loading process.

Also, another twist I am adding to my uniforms is a time appropriate jersey number and name on the back (most have "SILVAM" and "14")

I feel playing out games in 3D has a more realistic feel if there is something on the backs of the jerseys even if it has to be the same number and name for now (I've been asking OOTP for years to look into having that info populate for every player)

I realize some people may like it and some may not. I've found that some uniforms look better than others in 3D, but I'll take the good with the bad.

I will be presenting each decade of uniforms/logos here, so watch out for them. once I have gone through them all, I will post a zip on my mediafire and will also create a Steam workshop item.

I have saved the photoshop template for every jersey and cap, so fixes and adjustments can be made very easily.

I am only doing home and away uniforms. The game doesn't support alternates so I am not planning on adding them, although I may add some here and there if I get bored.

Hope you like them!

I have uploaded the ZIP and also created a Steam workshop item

Good stuff!! Not an easy task. I helped No Pepper do his set a few years ago and it was a arduous task. Thanks!

This is awesome! Thank you so much!

One thing to keep in mind: I saw at least a couple of things that weren't correct on the MLBcollectors.com site. For the Astros, the 1972 home shows a blue namplate with orange numbers. The Astros never had that combo. The '76 uniforms show numbers with a varsity number font and a white outline. That's incorrect. The '76 uniforms had a circus-style number font without an outline.

For uniforms from 1970 to the present, check Bill Henderson's Game Worn Guides. If you don't have it, I think it costs about $40, and it's an outstanding and accurate source of uniform documentation.

Thank you! I have been working on it for a while. I thought I was pretty much done, but realized the way the game chooses away caps if they are not present for certain years is wonky, so I'm basically testing and having to copy the home caps to away caps where there isn't an away cap in most cases to keep the game from using the most current one. weird stuff going on there.

should be simple logic: Check for away cap for Team (x) Year (x). If Away Cap does note exist, use home cap for year (x). Hopefully they fix that.

The other issue I have is the files that ship with the game will not all be overwritten by my files because of year range difference and such. This will also cause issues with auto loading of logos/uniforms.

I guess what it comes down to is I hate manual work after all of these years, but I love the work needed to make it more automated. hehe

Thanks! I'll take any information to adjust. I won't be able to match the fonts for every team, but I'll try.

here's what I have so far

Note* The Houston Colt .45s do not load automatically because of the "." in the team name database in the game. Can't have the "." in the filename

Yes, absolutely! I'm 100% on board with the bold.
