Perfect Team burn out?
I was on the fence for Perfect Team 22 after playing the 1st 3 versions. But the perfect draft sucked me in. And I am glad the opportunity to play PT 22 as there were many decent improvements and you couldn't just buy SS and CF's and put them in other positions. OOTPGO was a great addition as well!
But after FH3 and the outrageous unobtainable Hall of Fame players release, the game has become boring. I am sure there is more outrageous players coming, but boredom and burn out has surfaced for me and the game. After playing 4 versions of PT, I am not sure I will play the next version? Anybody else getting burned out on the game?

Yeah, I burned out. I missed a daily reward and at first I told myself, "no big deal, just start again", but then I lost interest. To be fair, I was probably looking for a reason to quit. It was already past the WS and I've regretted getting sucked into games that require you to come back every day before. I don't like feeling obligated to login every day and once you miss a day you don't feel like it's worth it anymore.

A bit, for sure.
Completing FH3 on launch night felt great, but it quickly became apparent that it wasn't even really an advantage in diamond...it just became the minimum requirement. So that was kind of anti-climatic. I think the content program was too easy this year TBH. All that being said, right now is kind of a natural low point in the cycle...especially with MLB in a lockout. Most likely in a couple months I'll be psyched for the next version. |

Pretty much. I haven't totally walked away in that I still try and check in to see if I've got enough Points yet to make a difference, but the reality is us F2P players can't do much of anything at this point. My teams are "stuck" in Silver-maybe-Gold and it would take a massive effort to stabilize them in Gold. Too many other interests. Next version I'm going to run just one team and see if the finer focus will keep me interested longer.

Me too - my interest waned about a month ago and now I'm back into the solo game and my online league. I'll see how I feel about PT23 when March comes around.

Spot on! I thought keeping up with the missions was going to make a difference. And it did. Kinda? It became a minimal requirement for Diamond.

I still longin for the rewards, however, there is nothing I can do to get my teams to improve enought to care. All I'm doing is accumulating enough points to buy one more useless Diamond card to get a perfect card everyone else already has. My teams have improved but gotten relatively worse for the past 2-3 months, so there is no Joy in Mudville. For me, PT is WAY TOO MUCH card collecting and not enough actual baseball.

I feel like PT should be on the cycle of real baseball, and it is. FH3 wrapped around the World Series and was the punctuation mark at the end of the season. I’m still playing but my time spent on the game is way down. I expect that I’ll pack it in before the new year and then have a few months off before PT23 is released. I will definitely play next year but have no idea how obsessive I will be.

I won't be returning to PT next year. While it's quite possible the devs might make changes to address certain issues we all seem to largely agree on, I just can't face the tourney grind necessary to progress again. I might sign up to an online league playing OOTP proper, which I've never had the confidence to do before.

I hit the wall this year for the first time. I have been stuck in a cycle for the last 12 weeks or so. I can do well in gold, but keep being promoted to Diamond every few weeks. 45-50 wins later in Diamond and I am right back in Gold. The wheels were wobbling after a few months, but then I felt the collections getting away from me.
This has been a huge killer for me. Just not being able to keep up on things. I get that it should be a challenge, and not everyone should have all the cards, but when the META is so strong that most cards are not playable on a main team, it kind of ruins card releases. I think that I have 10 FH3 collections done, and none of those guys are great cards. I will be in Diamond next week, which means that I set my team on Sunday, check in on Tuesday and leave the team be until Sunday because the outcome will already be determined. |

Same way here do real well at Gold then go to Diamond maybe last 2 weeks not alot of fun anymore.I wish they had some kind of Cap league with a nice Cap but still where you would have to use lower value cards some 70/80s.Seems you would have to manage more that just having 26 studs on most all teams. For example maybe do i use a Ralph Terry or Art Ditmar so to speak/Hope everyone has a Great Holiday!!

I feel good right after I finish missions to get caught up. Then they release more missions, and they keep piling on. I can’t keep up. Just spent a bunch of money to finish a mission or buy a nice card from the ah? Sorry. That card is now obsolete.

I don't spend money on the game. The continual release of new cards just makes me shake my head. Much of what they release seems to be a 'perfect' or diamond level card, which waters down the game.
Why not release all the cards to start and just issue POMs and such? Why are 'good' players getting a perfect card? Those should be used only for a historic season or HOF player. I'm sure everything I just typed has been said before. |

If you want players to stop playing the game after one or two months into the cycle because everything's there already, that's the way to do it. You can't drop all the cards at once at the beginning of the game in something like this and call it a day.

It has, and many of us feel the same way. I've also said previously a player should have a "career" card, a "best year" card, and a "rookie" card (if warranted). Add a few POM cards, maybe an all-star card, and that would end the fantasy cards we see now. This year each release had to be better than the last, so we ended up with fantasy cards with real names on them. I know the argument is "this isn't real baseball" but if it isn't real baseball then use fictional players, because that's what they are.

I have to ask, considering your signature shows you won 25 perfect league championships in version 2020, is your frustration now because you've spent just as much this year and haven't gotten quite as many wins in return? Asking for a friend.

I’ve enjoyed PT much more ever since I realized that this is Pokémon for baseball fans. The main game is available when we want a baseball simulation. PT is a card collecting game which happens to be built on a baseball framework. I’ve had a solid run as a F2P (other than $10 on Day 1 to build my a bronze tourney team) and have found the game to be balanced quite well considering all of the variables at play. Kudos to the team!

Yeah, therein lies the real problem. I was keen on PT when it was a baseball competition (PT19 and PT20), but it's now a card collecting game/competition with the game of baseball the way to test your collections against others. Like I said, I'll run a single team next year mostly to see the changes, but I'm heading back to the classic game for most of my OOTP time.
