I have still 11 of the Historic Missions halves to complete that need 1-3 cards. I would need about 1 million PP to do it today. The same cards needed by so many people absolutely looks like a long planned shortage was fed to us along with the Point Sale. The rarity and price of these few cards must be intentional. It is not a good way to treat the customers after we already had to lock cards to complete missions for inferior cards to those we already had earned. I must say I am a bit disappointed this time.

Aren’t we the same people who complain when it seems that every team has the same players on their rosters? We can’t have it both ways. Either the missions are easily reachable and we all have the same players or the missions are made to be difficult and we will struggle to finish them. I’m a F2P player and have about ten missions left to complete. That means that I am in line to get twenty of the FH3 cards right when they drop as things stand now and I have two weeks to work on the other missions. That feels pretty well balanced to me. The money needed to buy points only matters if you aren’t prepared to accept the challenge of getting it done without dropping the cash.

There is little changed about the teams having the same players. Look in Diamond and then look in Perfect. As far as working for my cards, I doubt you work harder than I do since I am retired on a fixed budget. I just do not get on here and tell everybody the hours I spend like some do. All that aside, the scarcity which causes the exorbitant prices is still there.

The prices will come down. They just did a big dump of lower tier cards the other week. That's why some of these cards are so rare. Give it a week or 2. People won't be able to keep selling those silvers at 100k.

The Silver pack sale and inflated prices has been a boon for me as well. I’ve been buying Silver packs and auctioning off my duplicates for solid profits. I’ve been picking off a few of the mission cards and have built my bank from 300K to 500K in the process.

After all the dust settled, I was able to pick up Bill Dahlen for around 83k, and with all the absurdly high silvers selling, I ended up making a huge profit. Now up to 216k and still got a few things left on the market that will hopefully sell.

Didn't win my auctions on Burnes and Buehler, but being an OL team I couldn't use them in league play anyway. Would have been at best tournament relievers.

I’m now down to three cards needed to complete all thirty missions; one for Houston and two for Tampa. Buying up Silver packs and selling off the cards was a great way to build up my war chest. As a F2P, the positive profit margin was strong for three or four days from those Silver packs but the returns appear to have dried up now. With 200K still in my bank, it is all about my usual packs from tournaments and watching the AH to get those final cards.

Impressive. Tampa seems overly difficult.

Just started playing PT last Friday after and I'm shocked by how much some of these cards go for. Maybe I'm so used to DD so this is normal but jeez lol

If you just started I suggest the live missions to start.

The collection set that dropped last week was literally the last piece of a content program that has been building up for several months, all towards the end-game mega-cards coming out next week (FH3 toppers). So the demand is sky high coupled with short supply due many of the cards only being introduced recently.

TLDR - these prices aren't normal. It's mostly just unfortunate timing on your part starting very late in the cycle. For the players who have been playing all year, they are difficult, but doable.

I actually just knocked the rest of those out this morning. Looking at doing the Adam Wainwright missions as i'm a Cardinals fan. I assume the silvers are so high because their needed for that mission and they are rare in packs

I’m nearing completion of all the east, central, and west (have 1-2 off f each). While I get the thought of being patient for the prices to come down, I also see value in trying to complete the missions now while the prices are so high. I’ve already gotten a few of the silver cards needed for these missions in packs and have been able to flip them for 50k+.

Now is the best time all year to complete the older missions. I've noticed just from selling old cards after buying lots of packs that prices have plummeted on previously released silver and gold historical cards, to the point I'm starting to quicksell a gold here and there because its only going for 1200-1300 on the AH. BAL starters used to go reliably for 500-1000, now most of those are in the low 200s.

The current missions are still a huge PITA, I have 5 of them I need one more silver to complete but can't bring myself to drop 50-60k, so I buy 30 silver packs instead hoping to get lucky (and I don't).

I'm afraid, from my own perspective, the Professor and others demonstrate the benefit of skillful play and consequences of lack of it. I spent all my meagre reserves and sold whatever would move to complete as many FH3 requirements as possible before the Selects dropped. Unfortunately, I concentrated on completing those 'west' and then got thrown the massive curveball of the Selects reward for completion of those being Ichiro who, of course, everybody wants in the same way everybody wants/wanted Rixey (who I still haven't been able to acquire due to blocks, PP poverty or more usually both.) I got in quick enough to complete the Padres (*) and Diamondbacks missions, but the rest now seem beyond reach for a while at least. The poor play I implied, of course, was not having 150K on hand when they dropped with which I could probably have got all of them .

Still, the good news from the Bassets is that at least the Red Sox and Orioles missions seemed to have completed themselves, so I'm hoping FH3 throws them a decent card at least. Oh.. for a lucky drop or two.

(*) For which the reward was ANOTHER 100 Fernando Tatis Jr card?? C'mon OOTP, the franchise is fifty years old, not two.

If I had to summarize my approach through the season it would be:
- Spent $10 for PPs on Day 1 and used those points to establish my Bronze tourney team.
- Spent the first week closely tracking the stats from my Bronze tourneys to lock in my team for the month. I repeat this step for a week or so each month after each Live update.
- Complete the initial Live missions. The “15” missions were great with the Gold pack rewards.
- Only sell duplicate cards. My goal was to get as many of the unique cards as possible in anticipation of future missions. My only exceptions to this have been to sell Live Perfects and the rare mega-pull of an exceptionally hot card. This year it was a Noodles Hahn when he was going for 700K.
- Stay up on the missions with a focus on those which are part of a larger path of missions (BaL, FH). The stand alone missions are not as much of a priority and can be completed whenever.

This approach let me build a main team which has been in Diamond for eighteen straight weeks (including one week in Perfect). I’ve had a rough first half of this week and am currently two games out from avoiding my first relegation since June. I have completed every available mission and am ready to pounce on the FH3 missions next week.
The one thing I may change next year is to be more aggressive about selling cards right after missions drop. It would slow me down from finishing the missions for myself but there are short periods where you can clean up by ripping packs and selling almost everything. In the rush following the drop of the Select missions, buying Silver packs and selling their contents took me from a bank of 300K to 600K in three days. Those points allowed me to complete the Select missions yesterday, I may also try out some other tournament formats to mix things up, but it is hard to interrupt the steady income of packs from my Bronze team.
I’m lucky that my job allows me to keep half an eye on my team to make sure that I always have three tournaments running. That doesn’t take much time at all when you are in Bo7 tournaments. GO makes that very easy.
