large increase in market prices

Has anyone else noticed a substantial increase in average market prices for cards? I'm trying to complete Athletics related missions to build an All-A's roster, but the average prices for silver and even bronze historical cards are averaging over 20,000 PP!

i.e. for the Postseason Part 2 mission, Ralph Terry (71) listed at 19,998 as a STARTING BID

I understand the auction market works like any other and it's determined by what people are willing to pay, but at the amount I'm expected to spend to complete the mission I can just buy Lefty Grove for a fraction of the expected cost

This is dismaying, I'll live with it until prices correct (if they do) but it guts a lot of the fun out of Perfect Team missions

A number of people just sold off their stashes of Live cards following with final update on Monday. That has put a lot more points out there to be used. Many of them are now buying up cards ahead of tonight’s drop of the Select missions. It is a recipe for inflation.

And points went on sale, too, helping make the situation worse.

This generally increases the costs in the AH. Just when the costs were getting reasonable.

It will sort itself out…but not tonight.

Time for all reasonable and (mostly) sane buyers to pretty much sit out the market until things sort themselves out. Should be after the points sales end.

Cash in tonight once the sets come out (unless you can complete them immediately or are close enough to overpay for one piece), then push again after things quiet down. Exactly what I'm gonna do. Got 146k at the ready and unless I'm close on some missions, I'm not buying. I'm selling or holding.

Kris unveils a big collection mission tonight. The points sale timing hurts.

Remember when I had self-control? Those were the days...

Luckily I got some things that will let me get almost all my points back. It'll give me something to work with once the final set of FH missions come around.

On the flip side, you can make a killing on selling right now. Watching live bronzes go for 1500+ is fun. It is actually a good time to buy packs I've found, you get really solid ROI compared to normal times.

Yep. I cashed in on some sets I don't plan on completing anytime soon and that's contributing to me potentially getting my points back this weekend.

Matter of fact, I have around 200k in stuff up on the AH right now. If it moves, I somehow make a profit out of all of this.

Thumbs down

Costs nearly 500k right now to complete the Pittsburgh Historical Select. In what world does that make any sense

In the “lots of impatient people who have a ton of banked PPs chasing after fairly scarce cards” world.

I never thought I would see Silver Cards at 100K+ Perfect Points but I have seen them this morning. Mind boggling!

Patience is a virtue which I have in only limited supply. There isn’t much to do with the Selects cards until the final FH3 missions drop in two weeks so it would be prudent for me to sit back and let the market settle in a bit. However, I love to complete missions so I am just setting hard limits on how many PPs I am willing to spend on any given card. As a F2P, I have a pretty solid bank of around 400K and a bunch of cards up for auction so I have some room as I chase the final 13 historical missions.

I'm too much a skeptic, but since it's only happening on that particular Select mission to this degree (and it happened almost immediately), somebody with a flood of cards could easily inflate the L10 and then sell their remaining cards for 2-3 times that. It doesn't appear that anyone is actually biting hard on these. But those couple scarce cards are the difference between me and the Dahlen at this point, so if they are for others, maybe people will become that impatient.

That said, the pack extravaganza last night was probably my biggest quantity score ever. I didn't end up pulling anything that changed my world, but it did offer a lot of dupes to increase the PP for needs.

They switched the Diamond Pack sale to a Silver Pack sale (2000PP per pack) earlier this morning in a clear attempt to pump up supply of the newer Silver cards needed for a number of the missions.

Hmmm... my strategy this year has been to never buy packs that I don't win or earn through missions, so I hadn't even noticed! The night was still a good outcome for me personally -- I've been hoarding low non-lives for mission releases just like this, and this was the first one that really paid off this season. I can't justifiably complain at all.

If not for the 20 or so bronzes from the last release that I hadn't managed to pick up at a value, I'd probably only have a handful of historical missions left to complete. I'm about at the same place you are right now, so it's only a matter of time before things simmer, if I can force myself to focus my energy on selling instead of buying.

I had all but about 10 of the missions completed as soon as they went live, 5 of the missions I only needed 1-2 cards, but a couple of these were bad. Pittsburgh i had none of the cards, TB and Houston only 2. Seem to be the same blocks for everyone judging by the prices

I did go through and buy the team rewards for those three for now until I finish the missions, way cheaper in the interim and I'll live without the toppers for now. I'd rather be able to complete FH3

I have opened about 10.000 packs since the Prime Performers missions dropped 42 days ago. Many hundreds of these were Gold and Silver packs, as I spent the past few weeks farming live cards for the last live update.

I have never seen most of these ultra rare and expensive silver cards (4 of them for PIT alone at 70K+ each) before. Are these cards just being released along with the missions now, as in: nobody has these yet when the missions first drop?

Just opened 200 silver packs, 76 Historical packs and some assorted packs from the missions I could complete across three accounts - this yielded just one of the rare silvers, so packing your way to completion of this latest batch seems next to impossible.
As a side effect of Historical packs being available again, the prices of non-live gold cards which are not part of the latest missions have dropped by a lot. So if you're still looking to complete some older missions, this might be a good time.
